THIS IS TUESDAY

I thought I had started this, we stayed at the Ho-Chunk Casino campground in the Wisconsin Dells last night.
I lost $10 and Jim won $10.  We have been in rain since Paducah Ky.  Sick of it already, we were going to get work done on the camper but it turned out to be a miss-communication.
Stopped at Skye's today and got my hair done.  It is 6 pm and we are 20 miles from home.  Now the unloading fun begins.  We are glad to be home.  Wish we could have stayed at Skye's like planned but such is life.
Good to be in our bed tonight.

MONDAY IS LEAVING PADUCAH KY

Well here it is Monday morning about 8am, we have been on the road since 6:30 we just entered Illinois.  We had quitea day yesterday.  We had a blowout on the pickup, called Kentucky State Police and they called Howard's towing and got our totally new Michelin tire taken off, of course it is in tatters, so is our rim, Jim called to see how much a new rim was because this one split, a mere $1175.  Kill me.  Don't get 20 inch tires or a 2006-2007 Ford pickup.
We had a nice dinner when we reached Paducah KY and got everything stowed away before the rain came and did we have storms.  Only once did the thunder/lightening jolt us out of bed at 4:40 this morning.

Sunday Sweet Sunday

Good to be alive, we are on our way home,
yes I heard the weather stinks back home but it will warm up.  It always does.
We are also back in Central Standard Time.
We are traveling through Nashville and the hills around it,
you should see the pretty white flowering trees.
You can tell the leaves have only been out a week or two.
Otto just sneezed, he does everything cute.
Makons is so funny, she doesn't even want Otto to have a drink.
She growls at him.
We got to our campground last night, nice campground, the funny thing was after  we got set up and I had downed my first beer the front gate called and made us move, she had looked at the wrong day.  The spot we were in was taken so we had to pack up and go to another spot and that spot was downhill and since we weren't going to unhitch we kept walking uphill inside the camper.  What a hoot, we had the nicest shower facility I have ever seen in any campground, quite lovely.
We left Macon GA at about 7am today, believe it or not, Jim slept from 7pm last night till 6:30 this morning.  We are in Clarksville TN and going to stop at Paducah KY.  About 1 1/2 hours to go.  We have a good wind sort of behind us but it makes the camper sway, we hate that.

SATURDAY AND GOING GOING GONE

Well let me tell you it is good to be heading home bur I hear we will have to bundle up.  They had a bunch of snow yesterday and the day before.  Lizzy is telling us to continue straight on Jim's phone and guess what, we will.  We have put on to date 4,560 miles so far on our trip, 200 to go today.  We will camp right outside of Macon GA at Arrowhead Campground in Lizell GA tonight.  About 532 miles today, why push it.  I kind of wish we had time to explore Macon but we don't.  We need to get back for the Living Waters Synod Assemble and I am looking forward to it.  I can just hear the groans out there.  Oh well.  Call me goofy.
I wish you could see Jim fly down the highway.  It's a sight to behold.  He impresses me with his driving skills.  (His hair is flying in the breeze.). His words not mine.
Do you know that there is only one palm tree that is native to FL.  The Palmetto.  Quite pretty but you couldn't clime it, too spiny of a trunk.
We just crossed in to GA so now I have to concentrate on pecans and peaches.
Last year we stopped in Jimmy Carter country in Plains Ga, we had some fun there, not this year.  Well more on our great adventure later, I am marinating pork chops in a citrus sauce.  We will see how that turns out.

FRIDAY AND WE LEAVE TOMORROW

I don't know about you but going home after being gone 6 weeks is going to be a blast.
We leave tomorrow.  I will be cleaning out the fridge, there is a smell in there somewhere.  Hummmmmmmmmmmm.  It needs a little TLC.
I went next across the street this morning, our neighbor Jo was out and she was having a cigarette and I coffee.  She is a 2 time breast cancer survivor and is still smoking. Go Figure.
We had a nice chat, I came back and started putting things away for our great adventure of returning home.  Just think, tomorrow we hit the road.  Macon GA here we come.  I think that's our first stop.
I had a couple of thank you cards to get in the mail.  Friends of Jim's have been kind enough to invite us over for lunch and dinner.
Yesterday Frank and Helen invited us over for lunch, it was lovely, I gave her one of my new scarfs I knitted as a hostess gift, it was black and white and I think she liked it a lot.  You never know but that one is probably my favorite.
We stopped at Total Wine on the way home.  I swear I am going to drive Jim crazy with my liquor store purchases.  I wanted to give Skye a case of the Yuengling Yuengling lagerbought 4 cases so I can have them for our family reunion.  I also bought 4 bottles of Pino Noir, I wanted Oregon wine but it is just too much out of my budget.  $12.99 o $17.99 a bottle.  This was $9.99 and I am willing to go $10 a bottle but that's it.
We had a nice afternoon at home.  Tonight is our last night. Seems weird.  The camper is starting to look organized with the exception of all those cases of beer and wine on the couch.  I can't leave them outside in this heat.  The afternoons get to 85 or so.  Supposed to hit 90 by the weekend.  We will be gone.  I don't need to see 90, too hot.  As it is it is hard to walk across the cement barefoot in the sun.  You know I need to get a new pair of teva flip flops.  I had to can the sandals I had and I did get at least 5 years out of those old rubber things.  Does anyone remember the blue and green sandals I lived in every summer?
Well back to cleaning up the old place.  Later.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S THURSDAY

Well, here we are on the last phase of our trip and I hear at home it is rain, rain, rain.  I know that it is important for the ground to thaw the permafrost way down especially this year. More permafrost than ever.  I somehow can't believe that the long winter is finally over.  Rain is a good thing.  If we didn't have the Synod Assemble to go to we would stay another week or so.  As it is we head for home and it will be good to get back to our church again.  I miss everyone.
What a fun day we had yesterday.  I went over to visit our neighbor across the street.  She invited me in to see some of her craft things.  One thing she had done was put pennies on a bowling ball.  She gave me some tips on what worked for her and what didn't.  I brought her over some Sour Cream Banana Nut Bread.  I sure like that recipe.  If you are interested in the best Sour Cream Banana Nut Bread in the world, go to allrecipes.com and look it up.
After the visit Jim and I went to The Conservancy of Southwest Florida.  We took an electric boat ride on the Gordon River and saw so many mangroves.
http://www.conservancy.org/ is the website and it is such a wonderful organization.  We had a lovely time, had lunch there and then headed for home.
We had tickets for "Under the Streetlamp and Gentleman's Rule" what a wonderful show.  Gentleman's Rule is a group of 8 fellows singing a Capella  and they were absolutely terrific.  Gentleman's Rule used to do the show "Jersey Boys" and let me tell you they were off the charts entertaining.  What a fun evening.  Poor dogs, they were in the camper a lot yesterday.
Well I need to get going getting ready for today.  We have to be at Frank and Helen's at 11:30 and I still have to decide what to bring her as a hostess gift.

IT IS WEDNESDAY

I meant to blog yesterday but the day just got away from me.  I did a load of clothes in the morning and then we went for a drive after Jim's friend Frank came over.  They sat around and jibber jabbered a bunch and then wet a line at the dock and went out to lunch.  They sure have known each other forever.

Later in the day we were fortunate enough to have Larry over for dinner, we met him last year when we were camped over on 358, he was across the street from us.  He has a lovely home here at Crystal Lake and has been here for at least 18 years. The camp just celebrated their 25th anniversary.  Larry has been blind for 58 years and windowed for the past 6 years.   The neighbor borrowed us their golf cart and Jim picked Larry up. He brought over some of his wonderful wine and we had sunnies - cole slaw salad and potato salad and key lime mango pie. Anyway we sat out and visited, I cooked in an electric fry pan and it went well.  I had fun and I think Larry enjoyed himself too.
He wanted my recipe for my strawberry salad, he remembered it from last year so I shared.  It only has 5 ingredients so it's a simple easy recipe:

PJ’s STRAWBERRY SALAD

Dressing:
1 cup mayo
¼ cup milk
1 ½ TB vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
½ tsp. almond extract
Mix together – keeps well in fridge for days – chill before serving

I use Romaine lettuce but you can use baby spinach or mix both together.  Also works well with a cole slaw broccoli mix.

I add Strawberries sliced or diced.

I like to add crasins, sunflower seeds, glazed pecans.

Use only the amount of dressing you need for a meal.
Saves well.

Now you have it too.
You should taste my Kettle Brownies.  Now they are to die for.
I would add it but you have to understand it's all about the butter.  Heart beware.

Do you know I got up this morning and did another two loads of laundry.
Kill me, will it never end.
As soon as Jim finishes his book we will be going to the South Florida Conservancy something.  We can do a boat tour.  If he doesn't get off the book soon I will have to start prodding him.

We have a busy night because we go to the Barbara Mann Theater again. How fun for us.  Jim is so good to me.   When I need him to vacuum or do dishes, he is all over it.  Hey he never misses opening the door for me.  Mac, can you hear me?

EASTER MONDAY

Do you remember getting Easter Monday off in school.  I sure do.  Well guess what, I still get it off.  We had a very nice relaxing easy day.  You don't want to know what our Easter dinner consisted of but it did include sweet potatoes.
Jim went to the dock and did some fishing, I sat outside and wrapped in a blanket and took a nap, it wasn't all that warm yesterday around 12-1 o'clock.  Low 70ies.
Late in the afternoon we took a walk over to Larry's to invite him over for sunnies, he invited us in and we shared a glass of red.  He is a wine con assure, I have no idea how to spell it, he served me a Pino Noir that was so smooth I had to check myself from asking for a second glass.  Silly girl.  My pallet is more used to swill.  Excuse me, less expensive wines.  Fun to sample really good wine.
Well on my mind this morning is getting ready for dinner tonight.
I am going to combine a couple of salads.  I want to make dinner easy for Larry.  Going to go with a homemade dressing and I purchased a cole slaw broccoli mix and will add nuts, seeds and strawberries, potatoe salad, Larry will bring wine.  I think Mac and Laura have enjoyed Pino Noir a lot lately.
I will just enjoy my visit with Larry, he is mega interesting.
I think Ron Maki is going to stop over today, they are too busy to get together this week and we brought down some sunnies for Ron. We just couldn't do dinner at their house.  Jim's cold is about over but there are still the after affects you still have to deal with.
I do pray I don't get it.
I need to connect with the kids.  Just think I will see some of them in about a week and some of them over Mother's Day.
It truly will be wonderful to get home, 6-8 weeks away is plenty.  I think we are finding out that is about our limit.

HAPPY EASTER

Well it was a full day yesterday.  Jim said he would go to the play we had tickets for.  He isn't 100% but he is on the mend.
We left about 10:30 for Ft. Myers.  Put $120 in the tank, for some reason gas is a lot cheaper there.  Only $395 a gallon for diesel.  We have put on 4000 miles so far this trip and old Bessie, our truck just turned over 140 thousand miles.
We had a nice buffet at the Broadway Palms and then we went saw a fine production of Music Man.
We stopped at Camper World on the way home to buy a new door latch that I inadvertently broke and a closet latch.  I am hard on the camper.
We also drove through Big Cypress RV park in Ft. Myers.  Jim had read about it and seemed it was worth a drive through.  It was a lovely park, not as nice as Lake Crystal and the thing I didn't like was, no sidewalks.  We have sidewalks all the way around and I like not worrying about cars running us down.
We stopped at an outlet Miromar Mall, I needed to visit the Haynes store.
When we returned to camp and had a nice walk around the lake.  A cool front went through and we had a very pleasant walk around the park.  You can bet the dogs enjoy it when it isn't So hot.  Hard to believe our time has almost come to an end.  I think We left middle of March and it is time to get home.  I so enjoy our time here, to be in warm weather is such a blessing.  This isn't our community because we don't own and I don't want to own here.  It's a good place to visit but I wouldn't want to live here.  I have to admit we have enjoyed going to concerts and plays immensely but it is not something we can afford to do all the time.
Being a spender I say, "We can't, Hummmmm."
Thank goodness for Jim.
We would like to have Larry over for Fish and we probably had better see if he has time this week or it won't happen.  Larry is a blind neighbor we befriended last trip and we have only seen him once at the pool so far this trip.  I think Jim stopped in to see him right after we arrived here.
I hear Jim moving around so I had best get it together.
Happy Happy Easter. Christ is Risen, Christ is risen indeed.

GOOD SATURDAY

I know that sounds silly but since I haven't gone to church during Holy Week I just feel it works for me.
When I awoke I thought for the past 3 hours it was Easter Sunday.  Silly me.  It's only Saturday.
Well I started walking the dogs yesterday around the lake but Makons kept trying to kill Otto.  Three times she attacked Otto and it was probably because I woke her from a sleep.  It was funny because some man was walking in the street observing the whole thing and he had a pretty big smile on his face because I was fussing so trying to make sure Otto wasn't hurt.  It usually consist of of me picking up Makons in the middle of the whole thing with both hands and trying not to have her teeth sink in to me.  It is like a circus and it happens usually at least once a week.  We all have our forms of entertainment, don't we.
I hear Jim up and need to check on him.

GOOD FRIDAY

Well we had quite a rain storm yesterday afternoon, we walked around the lake at noon and it was almost too hot, you should have seen the dogs drag.  We got back to the camper and took a swim and I did laundry in between swims.  Jim has the worst cold.  I feel so bad for him, I feel bad for me if I get it.  There you go with enough bad feelings for everyone.
The rain stopped and we had a lovely dinner.  Jim took a nap late in the afternoon and slept through the time we would have had to get ready for church.  Decided to let him rest, it's not fun having a bad cold.  We probably will skip services today also.

We are supposed to meet Frank and Helen for dinner tonight downtown but I don't know about eating outside.  It sounds like we are going to have thunderstorms again tonight about sundown.  We will see.

Makons is sitting outside.  She loves just being out.  Of course little buddy, Otto is right beside me behind my chair.
Today I will walk the circle early before 9 am so the kids can enjoy the walk.  Nice to be caught up with wash.  It looks like I could tidy up the camper somewhat.  It's a small space and needs looking after and Jim is much neater than I.

MAUNDY THURSDAY

We walked the Crystal Lake circle in the morning, it was cool and perfect weather, the dogs loved it and so did we.  We then headed for Wal-Mart to do a little shopping, supplies and we still need to go to Publix today for a few more things.

I went to see Noah yesterday.  If the point of the movie was to get you to read the Bible Story of Noah, that worked.  What a fantasy, they just couldn't tell it straight, we don't know how all the animals got into the Arc two by twos and it doesn't matter but to have a bad guy enter the Arc and wage war is just silly.  The part where Noah has to end all life.  Anyway it is some one's interpretation of the story of The Flood and if you just take it as entertainment with a bit of truth it is an OK film but it just doesn't leave you feeling hopeful.  It should.  Something sure is missing.  The acting is good but it missed it's mark somehow.  My take.

I love afternoon movies.  Jim thinks it's silly for me to go and the theater is a ways away.  I don't like driving the big truck in the big city of Naples, but I am careful and take my time and I have Lizzy to guide me.  That is what we named the voice on Google Maps.
I know she has a name but we can never remember what it is.
Had a lovely dinner of fajitas, instead of the round flat thing I like using lime chips and putting all my chicken and goodies on top of that and eating it as a salad.  Instead of cooking up the chicken we purchased a whole chicken already cooked and was that ever a good idea.  I would do it again.  It was really good and Jim could eat the legs and thighs and wings as a snack.  Oh what pigs we are.  I think I need another cup of coffee.
I wish my eyes were better.  This font is easy to read but I always have the feeling of being out of focus with my left eye.  At least I have some vision in that eye.  Jim and I are quite a pair.  Between us and our left eyes we really are blind as bats
.
The poor thing, he has quite a cold.  He wanted to walk the circle and I chickened out last night.  I was just too tired.  I forgoed my nap yesterday to go to the movie.  If I could I would go to a movie every day.  They even have a senior deal, for $5.00 you get a small popcorn and pop.  Loved it.  The movie in the afternoon was $8.50, which surprised me, it has gone up since my last movie.

I need to do another load of laundry today, maybe two.  I will do our bedding also, with his cold it is nice to have fresh sheets when you slide in to bed.  Of course you do understand you have to fight for space.  Otto and Makons also sleep with us but Makons usually slips on to the floor in the middle of the night.  I think it is just too hot for her.

We were surprised that it got up to 83 yesterday, sun came out in the afternoon about 3:30 or so.  We do take advantage of the internet service that is provided.

I don't know how long I have been up, a couple of hours and it is still as black out as pitch.  I have Makons hooked up outside. She prefers it and of course Little Otto is in a dog bed at my side.  I have had to cut so many matts out of her hair.  He is looking pretty good but I need to run a sissors and brush through him every day.  WORK WORK WORK!

We have church at 5:30 today and I still need to find a service for tomorrow.

You should see the pretty pot we put the two lovely orchids we purchased when we drove down to the Keys.  We purchased a pot for them and they look ever so lovely.

WEDNESDAY AND IT IS CLOUDY, GOING TO RAIN, MAYBE I CAN SEE "NOAH"

Well here we are on a Wednesday of Holy Week.  I still need to find a Good Friday Service.  I will.
Jim thinks he is getting a cold, he sure has had some headaches lately.
We had a full full day yesterday, we left at 7:30 and got home exactly at 7:30, it was a 12 hour drive.  Long fun day.
We left Naples and headed for "The Loop", I talked to Lyn Hop and she said she and Bob went about 5 miles down the loop but it was a gravel road and they then had seen enough and turned back.  I however was excited that it was a gravel road because I knew it would be a "road less traveled", too excited.  Hey I get excited at just about anything.  It doesn't take much, life is just too darn much fun, Jim makes it that way.
"The Loop" was a 23 mile drive and only the last 6 miles were black top.  We stopped in the office of the National Park Service at the "Big Cypress Preserve" the guy inside didn't have much literature for us but he was a walking encyclopedia, Jim felt bad after we left because we were the only one's there and he wouldn't have anyone to talk to and he sure wanted to answer any questions we had.  He was wonderful.  It made Jim laff.
Back to our drive.  We had such a fun slow meandering drive. Jim even got to stop and fish for Brim, Bass, Garr and the fish a woman called Crackers.  Who knows but there was a lot of fish, I wonder because there were no big fish that we saw if the alligators didn't eat them all.  We saw big alligators, we saw medium alligators and we saw little alligators.  It was too fun, there were even alligators in the middle of the road.  You should have see Otto barking at them.  We didn't take the kids out of the car.
After "The Loop" we decided to take a drive down to Key Largo just to see what the drive down the Key's would be like.
We got as far as Homestead and he looked up an old Korea Army buddy.  Dan Frost, we stopped on main street, Jim googled him and found he was only 1.8 miles from there.  We drove to his house and visited with Dan and his wife Sharon in their lovely home with a beautiful pool.  I wanted to go in, it was 90 degrees out.  Had a nice visit and then pushed on to Key Largo.  After going through Key Largo we decided to push on to Islamorada which was about a half an hour farther South. We just looked at each other and said "Is that all there is" and turned the car around and headed for home.  Enough said.
We took the turnpike home and boy was there traffic near Miami.
We stopped at home to give the dogs a break from the drive and change clothes, we then went to our new favorite place for dinner.  Buzz's Lighthouse Inn.  We had a lovely dinner and we were home by 9:30.  What a full day.  What a fun day.  I did post some pictures on my facebook page.  See I am getting better at this computer stuff.

TUESDAY MORNING

I am excited.  Today I think we will go on a drive.  We had a very nice in camp day yesterday, I listened to 90% of my book yesterday, went to the pool for a nice swim and was just lazy.
We had fish and chicken for dinner, we walked the 2 mile circle around 11am I think and the dogs just were worn out.  They would lay down after 3/4's of the way around.  We better not go at that time of day.  Just too hot for them.  Humidity was up and it was really hot.  Have to think of that.  On the way back we stopped at the waterfall pond at the entrance to the park and Makons swam and Otto got his feet and belly wet and had a good drink.
I have already showered, it's about 5:30 or 6am.  Jim is in there now and we are ready to go on our great driving adventure South.  I have never been farther South than Marco Island and that was great fun.  We are taking the babies so no walking unless Jim stays in the truck.  Hey he is happy anytime he has a book with him.  He is reluctant and I am happy about the big adventure.  LATER!

MONDAY MORNING - FOG - SCARY

Well we woke up today to a lot of fog.  Kind of fun but kind of wet.  It is 8am and starting to burn off, I need to walk the circle early this morning - I chose to skip it yesterday.  Makes me feel like a slob when I pass on the walk.  I did walk almost 2 miles but it was just doing laundry.
We went to 8:30 church at Shepherd of the Glades, this is Holy Week, so we need to find church for Good Friday since we have made plans for dinner Friday Night in downtown Naples with Frank and Helen.  We can go to the same church for Maudy Services, by the way since it was Palm Sunday we marched around the church with our palms.  It was very nice and then the service consisted of a passion play with the play events leading up to Easter.  Quite moving.
We are going to Ron Maki's church Easter Sunday and over there for dinner after.
After church I decided to do laundry.  I have shopping bags on wheels and they work quite well for carting things back and fourth.
Besides I need the exercise.
Later we did go to Wal-Mart and Publix Grocery shopping and I then listened to my book on CD, I am reading The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly.  Jim is of course going through lots of books.
He just read Without Hesitation about General Hugh Shelton for one.  His head is stuck in a book constantly.  What fun.
He always laughs that we go 2 thousand miles to read.
IT'S THE WEATHER we go for.
We had a lovely dinner and it was so delight

SATURDAY

Kills me that I can't sometimes start and stop when I blogging.  What I mean is I sometimes can't get to the end of whatever I was working on the day before.  Silly huh.
We had such a lovely time at Ron and Polly's, they insist we go over there for Easter services and dinner.  Well we are so fortunate to know, (Jim knows everyone) so many people across the country.  We drove around their complex, looked at a home they may be interested in buying.  Polly doesn't want to move but Ron wants a pool.  She makes a mean lemon pie.  My Mom would have loved it, I don't think my Mom ever thought of using real lemons.  Polly does, lovely steak and baked and fresh asparagus, yummy.
FRIDAY we went on an adventure, we had lunch at our new favorite place, Buzz's Lighthouse Inn.  Sitting over the water.  Yummy food and then we stopped off at Naples Olive Oil Company.  PJ PJ PJ you are a freak, I purchased 2 bottles of Pomegranate Balsamic Vinegar, one of Citrus Pomegranate Balsamic Vinegar and some Basil Olive Oil with a new pourer and some dipping spices for our ciabatta bread.  Anyway I outdid myself, I stopped at a counter and my purse strap got caught on a bottle of olive oil.  Bam-Pow-Wow olive oil and glass everywhere.  Kill me, I am a klutz.
We stopped at Target for groceries and walla, a new day.
SATURDAY was an absolute beautiful day, we got ambitious and shampooed the carpet.  Jim did anyway, I was moving everything around and being quite busy.  I have the fan going  and we went down to the pool and had a nice swim and Jim worked out.  That kind of puts you up to date.  We are having marinated salmon for dinner.  Best get at it.  Jim was just commenting on his wrinkled hands and I told him not to worry because he would be dead soon, he said well that's a comfort anyway.
Ago their day in Paradise.  We are blessed.  Palm Sunday tomorrow.

FRIDAY

OK today is another beautiful day in paradise.  We got up yesterday and walked around the circle.  I have added a map of Crystal Lake so you can see our walk around the lake. We are at the beginning on lot 3006.
I love this spot probably better than any we have been on.  We have been on 2121 the first time we stayed here and 3158 the second time we stayed here.http://www.crystallakervresort.com/about-us/#map

THURSDAY

You know when you leave off from day to day you loose your train of thought, last night I was listening to Jim laff reading my blog because of all the mistakes I make.  Spelling, grammar, punctuation, isn't he silly, this is just intended to be an ongoing dialog with myself, a diary of sorts, or better yes I wanted to have the kids see what we are up to.  The kids don't view anymore, I think it's just too boring for them.
Hey it's boring when all you write is "just another beautiful day in paradise".
Sure it is.
On Wednesday we didn't leave the park, we took a 3 mile walk in the park, Jim had already walked 3 miles on the stair master, when you walk three miles it means you do all the  inside culdusacs  and it is fun but you have tounderstand I go slower than the average bear.  I would have thought by now I would be walking faster but it just doesn't happen.  I really am looking for stamina mor than speed.  We still have 2 weeks and 2 days to go.
Ask me if I need to see Skye and get my hair done.  I told Jim yesterday we should fly her out for the weekend so she could do my hair.
Oh to have a bottomless checkbook.
I miss the kids more when I am on vacation because I can't see them.  I could do FaceTime, I will have to do it Saturday if Mac is around this weekend.
Jim walked up to the pool after our walk and I stayed with the kids at the camper.  There was some deep cleaning I wanted to do and I did get it done.
It was a lovely day and after dinner we walked the 2 mile circle around the lake again.  Was dark when we got back and it is fun to walk in the dark too and see all the lights in the park.
I got a real nice surprise yesterday morning, Jim picked up a package from Dede, she sent me a beautiful bracelet and earring set.  It is square coral  and sterling.  It is comfortable and beautiful.
I am so lucky.  Pinch me.
It has been cooler the last two days, we had rain and a cool front that went through.  Nice to have the air conditioner off for a change.
Today or later this afternoon we go Ron & Polly Maki's house for dinner at 4:30 and yes Ron and I will be having Margaritas, he makes a mean one.

A WONDERFUL TIME

Well you have to admit it, this large print makes it easier for me to see what the heck I am writing.
I have to laff because after seeing 72 year old Paul Anka  jump around on the stage like he was 30 and he looked wonderful, not an ounce of fat on him.  He put on such a wonderful show.  Jim loved it and so did I.  We sure are putting on the Ritz here in Naples.  Well it hasn't stopped, last night we went back to the Barbara Mann Theater to see The 10 Tenors.  They sang Broadway shows and it was great fun.  We had to laff when they showed us to our seats.  It was in the cloud section.  We walked up in the balcony I was nervous about getting dizzy.

I am having problems with my laptop, so I have to jump to my iPad.  I like the laptop but it does fixate me sometime.

The tenors were terrific.   You certainly didn't have to be close to hear them.  9 of them are from Australia and one is from KC MO.
Each one sang superbly.  What fun.  Living in Remer you don't have the theater so close to you.  Just 40 min away here for more than one theater.
We just got back from our 3 mile walk, took forever because we stop to talk to lots of people.  My poor feet.
Yesterday we also went to Gordon's Food Service, they supply

MONDAY MORNING

I don't know what time it is where you are but it definitely is MILLERTIME here.  Actually I am into Bud-lime one Corona with lime these days.  Found a local lager here that is the oldest in the nation a Yuengling and it's wonderful.  I will have to bring some home for Mac and Skye.  I wish I didn't like beer so much but I am just not a iced tea drinker.
I am sitting on my patio and watching a huge turtle stick his head out of the water right in front of our spot on the lake.
You know there are just so many exciting thing that go on here I just love it.  The part I don't like is - I really do miss the friends from Remer and of course the kids and Grandkid's.
Skye told me today their Dad is taking Mac and Laura and Skye to a Twins game.  I am so glad they are having fun with their Dad.
Alexis is going to hop in the car with the kids after work and pop in to day care and pick up Hope and Hudson.  She will have a better time doing that anyway.
She is coming down to go to Skye's dentist anyway and will get to have some fun.
Well a lot has happened since the last time I posted.
We did indeed go to the ocean on Saturday morning - we went early about 8:30-9:00 and on our way home we got a call from the Broadway Palms Theater asking us if we planned on using our tickets.  Here it was 12:30 and we were supposed to be there by 11:45 to see Les Mis - what twits we were.  We never even looked at our calendar that morning.
Well we took about 7 minutes or less to change and we were on our way, we arrived about 20 minutes after the first act and we know the play by heart and they were so wonderful that they even brought us each a plate of food, dessert and coffee.
But you should have seen us eat it.  It was almost pitch dark and we had no idea what was on our plates.  What a hoot.
We enjoyed it very much, best production of Les Mis ever.  What fun.  The turtle is back for air again.  We only walked the circle once Saturday in the evening.
I took Sunday off, no walking.  We went to Shepherd of the Glades Lutheran Church Sunday, wonderful Sherman, lots of Minnesota, the Pastor is from Albert Lea.
We went home, Jim went to the workout room and pool and I did 3 loads of laundry.  It's a fair exchange, he does all the planning and calling, dishes and vacuuming and grilling.  We work well together or as he would put it, "We make a pretty good team, don't we?"

I had a fun day, watched a bunch of Agatha Christie movies on Masterpiece Theater.  Does it get any better than that?

I am watching 5 sailboats, you know the kind, remote controlled ones.   That's what retired people do, they play with toys.

We, Otto and Makons walked the circle this morning, too fun and now I as a good retired person am going to take a nap.

SATURDAY

I think it is Ocean day today, I want to go early, we couldn't go yesterday because Jim needed to get the tires rotated and oil changed.  I walked the circle twice and I used my walk-o-meter and it showed it was well over 2 miles.  Did a couple load of laundry, heck the sheets take up a whole load.  KING bed, it is huge.
We took a very nice drive yesterday - one of the things I saw on our drive was the complex where Lyn & Bob Hop stayed the month they were in Naples.  The Enclave.  It is funny because she told me about a thrift store that was exceptional.  Well we also found that and it is called The Matthew House.  It turns out out Crystal Lake RV Resort where we are staying is one of the sponsors of Matthew House.  Matthew House is a recovery program and it is Christ based.  You need to commit a whole year of your life to the program to be accepted.  It is much like Rebuild Resources that Jim was on the board of.
You should see the clothes they have, lots of new stuff from Chico's with the tags still on and so many top brand names I don't even recognize, Jim saw a men's suit marked at $600.00.
It was a fun store to visit.
I just enjoy driving around.  I still would like to leave about 4 am some morning and head down for Key West.  Won't happen but it sounds like fun to drive across all the bridges down toward Cuba.  Hey hey.
We stopped and picked up a porterhouse steak, I get the fillet of the steak so I definitely get the choice piece of meat and after dinner we took the dogs and had a wonderful twilight walk around the park.
Jim is having problems with his left thumb.  Pain, I think it's arthritis.

DORIS DAY IS ALIVE AND WELL

Well am I excited or what.  I only wish Dot and Deanne were here today because it is Doris Day day today.  Every year when they came up for a week of camping there were many afternoons we would watch a Doris Day DVD.  Oh Memories. What fun we had.
Yesterday was a very nice day.  I did a load of white laundry, only had time for one load.  What I like about it, is it is only a short walk from our camper.  Probably a quarter of a mile away.  I use the timer on my phone so I arrive back right after the load is done and could run back and forth so I could shower and get ready for the day.
We met Kathy and Ray Ordner for lunch at 1 pm on Sanibel Island.  It must be about an hour of driving from here.  You hop on the causeway, it's $6.00 to do the hopping.  We wanted to meet them at their place so we could go back to "The Blue Giraffe" because you can eat outside and have your pets with you.  I asked how much to stay at a condo, they have a 2 bedroom condo on the ocean and they commented it was $10,000 a month.  Wow.  You should see the people on the island, and the word is that the shelling is terrific.  We went over to their condo after lunch, a two bedroom upper.  Great view of the Ocean and we walked out to the beach for 1/2 an hour or so.  Fun and they are great company.
We have enjoyed our time with friends of Jim's all over the country.  He has known Ray since the early 60ies.
We got home and had wonderful bourbon marinated salmon for dinner that evening.  I know I should have walked the circle at the camp but I was just too pooped.
I will have to do a two-fer tomorrow.  Did I just make up a word?

I need to get another load to the laundry this morning and I really want to go to Delmer Wiggins State Park today.  Ocean here I come.  Just for 4 hours or so.  It is an easy in, easy out and we really need to do some grocery shopping.  Publix is our grocery store of choice and it is just down the street.  Jim mentioned he needs to get the oil changed on the truck.  While I was doing laundry yesterday he washed the truck.  For a 2006 the truck still looks wonderful.  He really down a good job taking care of it.  He also does a super job doing KP duty in the camper.
I like blogging so much because it is like keeping a diary.
Just got a picture from my sister in Hawaii, Oahu to be exact and she and her three girls went 4 wheeling on the island.  What a hoot.

If you look closely at the photos there are baby owls in this nest.  This was at Selby Gardens at our last stop.,

WEDNESDAY

I think it's Wednesday.  When retired, you only need to know when it's Sunday, so you don't miss church.  I finally put a font on  that I can easily see.  The normal font is just so tiny.  Tiny isn't a word I often use when I refer to me.  I am walking now at least 4 miles a day but I wonder how much it will help.  I know of course it can't hurt.
You know what I forgot to mention was our lovely dinner out.
We were driving out doing our thrift shopping and we saw an Italian place called "Sophias Ristorante Italiano" on Pine Ridge Road.  Jim had pasta with Tag Truffles for $35, I had Salmon and my one glass of wine was $14.  It gives you some idea of the bill,  A hundred here, a hundred there.
It was a lovely dinner and of course because we were together, it was even more fun.  We sat across from a couple that didn't say 10 words to each other through their whole dinner.  Now I know there are always times we don't want to say anything to each other but having dinner together isn't one of them.
At dinner I want candlelight, soft music, dim light, good conversation and of course wine.
We had fun.  I had more fun than Jim because he had to pay the bill.
We had such a fun Wednesday, we picked Frank Yates up at 7:45 am and off we went to Naples Pier.  I wasn't excited because a new walking adventure awaited me.  It must have been 8:30 or so when we arrived at the pier,  Frank said the pier was about 1/4 mile long and of course the beach went on forever.  There were only a couple of dozen people out walking the beach, I really remembered the beach as being so narrow but in reality it was super wide.  I only picked up a few shells, they were rather picked over but I was there for the walking and walking I did.  I put on over 4 miles for the day.  After walking for about an hour and a half I joined the guys at the end of the pier to see how the fishing was going.  Frank caught a couple of birds and something took the fish Jim had caught but the hook popped out and landed the hook in his forearm.  The story Jim told me about getting the hook out of his arm was comical.  Neither Frank or someone nearby wanted to take it out but finally the guy nearby bent back the barb and pulled it out.  Lots of Drama.  Jim wanted them to just yank it out.  He is such a twit.  At least he has only a couple of holes instead of a tear.  He is tougher than owl poop.
I then decided to go to nearby shops.  I wanted a coffee and a new visor.  I went to a coffee shop.  Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii.
http://www.badasscoffee.com/storedirectory.php  Makes you shutter.  What is next.  Anyway there were some really fancy shops in the area.  I went to two store looking for a visor and I found one but it was $148.00.  For a straw visor.  These people are nuts, I finally bought one for $28.00 at Tommy Bahamas.  It is about twice as much as I wanted to pay but it is a really neat straw visor and wraps around the back with Velcro.  Oh ya, it has the Tommy Bahama pineapple logo so I know it must be worth at lease $15 for that.  Kill me.
Jim would like to sometimes.
I had some fun in our public parking lot, a Lamborghini pull in to the parking lot as I was pumping the meter for another hour. It was bright yellow. The personal license plates stated "No Murcy".  What a hoot.  I took a couple of pictures but I have no idea how to get it to my blog.  So wonderful being me.
We left the beach about 12:30 and headed for an outdoor cafe. Buzz's Lighthouse Inn.  Cute little place, Jim and Frank had the Rueben's and I had a wonderful caesar salad with blackened chicken.  Too wonderful.
We got home and chilled the rest of the day, dogs were glad to see us since we were gone 7 hours.
I need to do some laundry today.  I hate it to get too huge.  Isn't it funny how it just seems to grow during the night and all of a sudden "Walla" it is a huge bag.
I did fine a bracelet at the beach.  It is one of those rubber ones. No saying on it but it is a pretty yellow and purple.  It's me.

TUESDAY ALL DAY AND ISN'T THAT A BLESSING

Each day here in paradise is such a wonder.  I think of back home and the crummy gray weather and just kiss my hand, I am so very lucky.  It was 80 here yesterday and every day since we arrived.  We arrive last Saturday, we were able to walk the 2 mile circle and on Sunday we walked it twice and the same on Monday.  I just want you to know it is no small task.  I am always behind Jim and by the last 1/2 mile I am draggin.  So that is 10 miles so far.
Hey today is APRIL FOOLS TODAY.  I never got it, I always just miss out on the jokes.
I hate to say I am dense but you get the picture.
We went from Crystal Lake RV Resort for the first time yesterday since we arrived.  We went out to look for stuff at thrift stores, I got the best basket for a plant and a brand new wine aerator.  There are treasures out there.  You just have to be willing to look for them.  It was fun just running around looking at Naples.
The weather has been perfect since we arrived.
Jim was wonderful yesterday, He washed the camper and that is no small task.  It took at least 2 hours.  The kids and I walked the circle.
When we walked it last night we again, I think we do this every year. We look at the ones for sale.  It is just fun pretending we have that kind of money.  Jim told me when we are 85 and if we have 1/2 a million in the bank we can buy a spot down here.
I guess that answers that.  Anyway we are blessed to just be here.
Today we are going to have some fun.  Jim is taking me with, we are picking up Frank Yates, a classmate of his. and they will fish the pier in downtown Naples and I will have an adentture.  No idea what that looks like but I am sure it will be fun.
I am listening to Joyce Meyers, she is a delight and so plain spoken.
Right on Joyce.
Well I need to get ready for the day ahead.  I also need to see if I can add more pictures now that I am using the internet service the park provides.  YIPEE SKIPEE?
