POST TWO WEEK AFTER SURGERY
Well time does fly by. So much to do before our bake sale Saturday. I went to see Linda and June yesterday afternoon and she had built two Ginger Bread Houses - too cute.
THANKSGIVING DAY
How wonderful to have my Alexis, River and Autumn home. If only I was clever enough to put a photo of the table runner Autumn made for my table scape. Autumn did the most incredible job on the table runner. It is exquisite to say the least. What fun for me and how proud I am of her. She can do anything she sets her mind to it.
So they came home on Wednesday and Skye and Jon came home Thursday with the pies. 3 pies. Lovely. Apple, pumpkin and French Silk all from Bakers Square.
Ali & the kids stayed Wednesday night and Skye & new Beau 'stayed Thursday night - what fun.
First time we met Jon - they have known each other 9+ years but just started dating after having fun together at a mutual friends wedding.
So October 1st is their Anniversary date - been connected 2 months
now. They seem well suited for each other. He is 12 years older
than she but she doesn't mind at all.
Skye just took a part time job to make some extra monies to finish off her basement and get out of debt.
Will take her a while.
You should have seen the snow yesterday- it was just beautiful- warm out too - must be 30-34 - too bad it's a heavy wet snow.
Let's see a I had my surgery on November 18th, female surgery, so it's 2 weeks ago today, feels like it's longer ago than that.
Healing takes time and I am not a patient woman.
I just too much to do. We went to the Rapids, (Grand Rapids) yesterday, but befor we went I made a double batch of Banana Nut Sour Cream Bread, 20 mini-loaves, and 7 dozen Russian Tea Cakes. Everything is in containers on the back porch, have to use that for my fridge.
I mixed up 3 batches of cookies this morning. Cut out sugar cookies and Cranberry Walnut Oatmeal cookies and Cottage Cups, they are a lot like Pecan Tassies. Having fun but I do run out of
energy quickly. Now to bake everything. That's time consuming.
Oh I wish you could see the two bald eagles in our largest pine tree at the side of the field. They come down to the middle of the field and eat the fish guts that Jim throws out.

CHRISTMAS IS A COMIN
Well here we are - thought it was time to blog - I am working on a scarf or shawl for Laura - it s really turning out or be pretty - red fun fur and hi-lo red yarn.
Had a really great weekend - LEFSE LEFSE - WHO'S GOT THE LEFSE.
We met at Heid's church "Sepherd of the Hills" in Edina and did our lefse there.
Heidi & Pat were there with her kids - Maggie, Joey & Ali, Erin & Josh & Riley & Jackson, then I and my brood, Mac, Laura, Hope Hudson, Alexis &Autumn and Skye. 17 from what I can decifer.
It was lots of fun and Alexis, Autun, Skye and I all went to Macs to visit. I stayed at Macs and Alexis and Autumn stayed at Skye's.
The real funny part, in Remer at Bethany we spent Friday morning getting lefse ready for rolling out on Sunday. So I was part of a roll a roll out Saturday of 30# of white, 10# of sweet and on Sunday of 25# of white. BUSY BUSY BUSY.
Every week is full - we want so to live life full out and then our bodies remind us it is not going to happen.
I can make one bone builders session this week - then female surgery Wednesday.
The next week is Thanksgiving and Ali and Skye will be home. Too fun and I will get to meet Jon - Skye's new squeeze. She is happy.
The time see is a flying.
We have a Lion's meeting tonight and I am bring a Baker's Dozen of lefse to be auctioned off.
Should be a hot - we also have game night at church. Wish I could be at both.
We ave to be in Duluth tomorrow by 9am so I only have today to clea. Up my mess I. The pole building and it should be enough.
Later then.

TUESDAY ALL DAY
I don't think I have too much going on today, I know I told Audrey I would be honored to be her guest at the grand opening of
"The Soo Line Saloon" - we had "The Pickled Loon" in that spot for six months but they left town and moved their place to Outing. Big mystery there but if this place has good eats we will be super happy. Opens at 5pm.
Love having decent food in town. We have "The Woodsman" but we have our Lions meetings there once a month with dinner so having something else too is always nice, we are only a town of 370 I think or 317 - I never can remember.
Been busy - Sunday I am happy to say went wonderfully- we were 28 for the fish fry - we went through 138 fillets of sunnies. I cut them in half and this time we used McCormics beer batter and it had just the right amount of spices. Every piece went. Wonderful Dar brought an extra 30 fillets just in case and I packaged them up and gave them away at the end - all people had to do was guess my favorite number and of course it's #7. I even have a rock at my front door with the #7 on it. It's funny I have had #7 in so many addresses - in Alexandria it was 207 Hazel Hill Rd - Jim's address was 2070 Carnelian Lane - we lived at 207 Heritage Circle in Burnsville to name a few - of course I was "Idea Agent - Wester, PJ Wester 007." At ChartHouse so "7" is an endearing number and it was so funny because Susan guessed it right away.
Now to get Jim willing to make fish for me for D.O.S.S. On the 28th. We girls will gather here at 4pm. Most of us are retired so we think it's 5 o'clock somewhere at any given time in the afternoon.
Jim took care of the flowers at church and used the back stairs and low and behold- we found 4 old funeral bouquets all dead and dried out. What a hoot. I came back at 4 pm Sunday but just to deliver the communion cups. It was Audrey's and my turn to do the set up, I am now a member of Alter Guild and Audrey is a great partner for that. She did the setup, mainly because I forgot to show up on Saturday morning at 9:30, so I did the clean up. Worked out fine because she was not at church on Sunday.
On MONDAY Jim met me at church and we cleaned up the mess in the back hall. I sure would be interested to know who left it. We could have used the flowers at church instead of have them die in the hall way. Bet there is a story there. Maybe someone got locked out. Our dehumidifiers at church are running overtime. I am there every M-W-F for bone builders and we usually do the cleaning on Thursday or Friday these days so plenty of Chance to empty them.
I had such a busy day Monday, after bone builders, and we had 6 of us there, good turnout.n anyway I saw Pat Jansseen at the Remer Arts and Crafts, I used to work with her for two years at the RAC store. She makes beautiful cards and she wants some wine bottles. Now that I can accommodate. She makes wind chimes out of them. They are adorable, she had some on display at the store. We chatted for an hour. Time does fly, I was going next door to see if they had any old bananas, want to make Banana bread. If you like Banana bread you have to go on line to allrecipes.com and look up Sour Cream Banana Nut Bread. I tell you that recipe is to die for. I no longer coat the pan in cinnamon sugar like it suggests, just too messy bit I get 8 Minnie loafs and freeze them, great to have on hand when company pops in or you visit someone. I have never had a complaint about that bread being dry.
Went home, Jim told me Pam-John, Rachael and Mickie were coming to spend the night, house and guest rooms were in order so I just had to make chocolate chip cookies without nuts and made up some Bergers for us to grill and a salad to pass for our Lions picnic at 5:30. We drove separate and Jim got home right after the kids drove in from up North, Park Point Resort in Voyager National Park, they had been there since Thursday. Jims kids have had their hands full with the passing of their Mother, Jane, she was just 72. Heart failure brought on by a heart attack a year ago. We went to the funeral last Monday a week ago. Fortunately Jim was able to be there for Carrie and John three days before she died and when she passed. They took her ashes down south near Sleepy Eye. Forget the name of the town. I think she is buried with her grandparents. Carrie just is in the process of selling her house, took a lot of thing and put them in Janes townhouse, sounds like it's full to the brim. Should have put their things in storage so they could move. Been crazy time for them, they now have to find a place to live, probably in Stillwater. Carrie has checked out schools there and likes that area. David's business is in Maple Grove so that could prove to be quite a drive to work. We will see where they end up.
Was a full day anyway, here it is Tuesday and I have two Doctor appointments on the calendar. One in Remer for physical therapy on my back and one in Deer River for an MRI. We just want to see if something can't be done to releave some of the pain in my lower back, you know my philosophy is "just keep going" if you sit too long - you might never get up again.

AUGUST UPDATE
Well to say it's been awhile is an understatement, I had been having problems with my hot-spot and that is what I use to get on-line with. What a crazy busy summer and it has been fun too.
Last weekend Ali-Mac & Laura, Skye and kids home for Harvest Fest. Was fun. The blow up bed in the camper kept deflating, I think we finally have that fixed. Hope and Hudson kept flattening out. But you know kids, they can sleep anywhere.
U
The weekend before that I worked at the Library. Try and work 2 days a month.
We had our family reunion at Sibley State Park this year. Was fun. I have to keep Makons out of the fray and with Jim it is not an easy task. Makons bit my middle toe on my left foot on July 25th and
its is still red, swollen and painful, at least it's starting to scab over.
We had a fish fry at the family reunion and we are having our annual church fish fry out here tomorrow. Will be fun. Lots of details left but it will come together. I hope so anyway.
Well just wanted you to know I was still here.
Some sad news. Carrie and John's mother died August 1st. We went down for the funeral last Monday. She was only 72. Jim was with the kids Thursday through Saturday before she died and I am greatful for that.
It seems every day is super filled, I have bone builders every Monday-Wednesday and Friday morning, bible study evert Wednesday at 3:30, prayer group every Friday morning at 8am, help clean
the church every Thursday I an in town, Lion's meetings and activities, working at the Library and I
just joined the Altar Fuild at church. I am having great fun but Jim and I had a break this summer. We went to Ill for a week and then Dot Nancy and I camped for a week in Fountain City WI.
What a dog, I was merely walking up to a picnic table and she was under it and bite me. Thank goodness it was me and not one of the kids. I am starting to use the shock collar on her. It seems to be working. Thank you Gail so much for the use of it.
Next week I am having an MRI and start therapy to strengthen my back. We all know it will never be wonderful but I wish it could be a little better.
I am having DOSSIER the end of the month and another fish fry. Nancy and Dot will be coming up to help. Yes and drink wine. Jim just took me to Total Wine. What fun I had.
Have to get busy.
Will keep you posted.

OUR RUMMAGE SALE AND MY THANKS
RUMMAGE & BAKE SALE 2015
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
$ 3402.54 is our gross total. We had expenses and WELCA or the church picked them up plus WELCA donated food and goods.
The BAKE SALE was such a success we almost sold out the first day and did well on Saturday and the rest went on Sunday. Bethany Bakers are too, too wonderful.
What a wonderful bunch of hard workers we have at Bethany.
I have to thank them first - mainly because most of us are over 70 and 80. It was the younger ones that kept me motivated and going. I am not naming names because I just don't want to forget anyone.
Those of you who donated, and there were so very many, without you there would not be a sale. We had so much good stuff this year but it seems I think that every year.
I can't say enough about how hard the boys in "The Garage" worked. The dedication, getting the garage draped, the marking of stuff day after day. The deals, the selling of things for 2 for $2.00 each or both for $5.00. And the public went for it. We had them moving furniture in the Narthex and basement. Back breaking. Thank you. Tearing it all down and packing up after the sale was a lot of work and after we packed up stuff for Orphan Train, the Webster family helped by taking a whole bunch of stuff we would have had to take to the thrift store. They will use all left overs for a garage sale with proceeds going for Heather's trip to Costa Rica.
Our food court was too fun. We managed to eat all of the hot dogs, laughed over the tough skins, now could it be our teeth? The big hit was, drum roll please, "Walking Tacos" and of course our giant cinnamon rolls.
I loved the giant tubes indicated what type of items were on the tables. Also, our jewelry table looked smashing.
I know I am leaving things out but just know how much Bethany appreciates what everyone does.
Last, but not least, Pastor Dale, what a gem for helping Jerry of Orphan Grain Train load up. I am sure you wondered if help was ever coming. My last Rummage Sale. PJ
Well that about sums up what I have been up to.
The one thing I didn't add was we had a terrible sadness during our sale. Velma Sullivan of Orphan Grain Train died and her funeral was a day before the sale. We have been associated with Velma and Jerry, her husband for 15 years or so, she was 77 and a very dedicated Christian woman. WELCA donated $100 to their organization in her memory.
Jim and I ran a truckload of stuff to Menahga MN 90 miles away on Monday. Always a busy week after the sale making sur everything gets done.
I would continue with the sale but my back just can't do it anymore.
Been up since 4 and I need to get ready for Bone Builders.
I would like to run down and see Dot, need to also get my hair done, think I will go shorter- guess I need a change.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

SALE DAY
HERE IT IS FRIDAY - Sale day.
We have worked so very hard and long to get to today.
I think this will be our last sale.
The guys have worked so hard and not one of them is under 70.
What does that say about the modern day church.
In the garage it has been Jim, Roger and Gary.
It has been fun having them around at church.
I went in at 4:30am to pull out my rolls for baking - I will go in again at 6am and pull out the rest.
I made frosting for 2 packs of powdered sugar, butter, cream cheese and half and half. Should be enough but you never know.
Can't wait to see how that goes over. Sandstrom's rolls are wonderful. They are cinnamon and we just have to thaw and bake them.
Our basement looks great, I just wet my hair and need to blow comb it out. I am going to wear the fun fun shirt Dede gave me in lime green with all the petals on it. It's a fun shirt.
I sure hope the rain holds off for today.
I need to set up a couple of tables outside so I need to load up the car with plastic chairs and they mowed so I need to rake up some of the grass.
So much to do.
So little time.
Later.

RUMMAGE SALE 2nd DAY OF SECOND WEEK
Well here we go - very sad news Velma Sullivan passed away yesterday morning, it started with Pneumonia and then she had a heart attack and a stroke so it was a blessing she died when she did, she didn't have to suffer long. I talked to her husband Jerry and we are going to deliver the left over rummage sale goods to Menagua Mn, I guess it's 90 miles from Remer. We will borrow a trailer after we see how many boxes we have. I know we can get the WELCA ladies group at church to go for gas. It is the least we can do for them, she was such a vibrant woman.

RUMMAGE SALE 2nd WEEK
I can't believe I haven't posted since Skye's birthday, I remember posting a week ago - must not have saved it.
Or must not have been connected to the Internet.
Either way, not happy.
Sometimes I get so frustrated with computers I just want to forget the whole thing.
I have news, my heart is heavy, Velma is Jerry's wife and they run "Orphan Train" or "Orphan Grain Train", they give away what we have left from the rummage sale to the needy.
Velma had pneumonia when I talked to her about a month ago, well maybe it was less than that, anyway since then she has had a heart attack and stroke and they don't expect her to make it so they won't be picking up our left over goods this year. I would like to think of a way to help. I will have to talk to Jerry. Pastor let me know, Jerry stopped by the church. Prayers for them and their family.
We have been at preparing for the sale now for almost a week and have accomplished so much.
I am of course running around like a chicken with her head cut off.
I actually remember my Mother harvesting chickens for the freezer. We had a lot of Chicken Sunday dinners. Were they divine. Growing up on the farm sure gave us plenty to eat. All the gardening and canning that goes on. It seems to be a lost art. With all the genetic modification that goes on with our grain for more more more it makes you wonder sometimes if it's a good thing.
I am so tired, on
Y a week to go, went to D.O.S.S. Saturday which is our. Wine club group, 14 of us there.
Or must not have been connected to the Internet.
Either way, not happy.

SUNDAY AND RAIN RAIN RAIN
Well yes - it's on a raining cycle.
I am afraid we are stuck there for awhile.
Sunday was busy, we had rain seeping in to the Pole Building and that is where I store boxes, boxes and more boxes.
Many got wet so I had to do some quick hustling along with Jim and get the dry ones to church and the wet ones re packed to new boxes. Only had to rewash 2 loads of clothes so far, not bad considering the rain.
First we had church in the morning, Jim and I ushered, he also served communion. I made chocolate chip walnut cookies and cut up apples. Ushering is always fun. We had 36 by Jim's count.
We took a car load and a who,e truck load to church and the rain didn't let up much yesterday. I have my car full again and as soon as it gets light I will run another load in. I have lots of paper work to do today and flyers to get up around town. Here it is only 5am and my mind is going 100 miles an hour.
What a twit.
My Skye turns 40 tomorrow, I can hardly believe it.
Where does the time go?

SATURDAY
As I start most blogs, busy busy busy.
I can tell you about one change.
Jim was talking to Verizon yesterday and told them I was about ready to throw my iPad out the window because I can never sign on. They had him shut my phone off and then they did something yo it and walla - I can get on in the blink of an eye.
Why oh why wasn't it that easy from the get go.
He was calling then because some number keeps calling him and he can't call it back so he had them block the call for 3 months. Then he just mentioned my iPad problem.
My brain is getting full of "The Rummage Sale".
Hard to think of any thing else.
I am very excited about Sharon coming up.
I will have to have a mini-fish fry when she gets here.
I also need to think of what I will make for the Bake Sale.
I am trying to think of what went on Thursday but I can't remember.
Ah, we had Crafters at Lorretta's and Jim picked me up.
We had a 1:00 afternoon appointment for the VA to see a nutricitionist about their weight loss program.
Hope it works for him and maybe I can piggie back on him and loose weight too.
Got back for dinner and met John and he and I sold tickets for Bingo at The Loon. I picked up June and she went with me.
Maybe next week I can go and play.
Friday I washed clothes, bedding, went to prayer group at 8am, Bone Builders at 9am and we cleaned the church at 10.
I was home by noon, stopped at The Muni for boxes and got home so I could spend the afternoon making cookies for Sunday, we are ushering.
I managed to start on my Rummage Sale letters and printed out my flyers.
Now to shower and get going. Need to get the flyers up today, will call Monday about the Ad.

THURSDAY AFTER MOTHER'S DAY
I have such a hard time getting in to the Internet on my iPad - what a joke making my phone a hotspot. It was so easy getting online today but sometimes it can be for up to half an hour and I just get frustrated and just give up.
I had such a wonderful Mothers Day. I went down to the cities on Friday but first Jim and I both drove separately to Baxter so we could get shots in our left eyes. Jim then continued on to Cross Lakes to fish with Jerry and I to Skye's in Mounds View, she colored my hair and
Skye and I had a nice pork chop dinner at her place, I somehow lost part of a tooth so I had to deal with a sharp edge till Monday.
SATURDAY morning Skye and I did some crafts and I got to Macs by 10am so I could go out with the family on the pontoon.
Mac and Laura went to a church event so lucky me I got to spend quality time with Hope and Hudson, we went to a park nearby, went home and ordered pizza and waited for Ali, Autumn and River.
Dot even did the pop in because she needed to pick up the dehydrator I picked up for her at Goodwill because she is going to make liver treats for her dog like Skye does, when Mac and Laura came home we had a fire for 2 hours, River and I managed to get it going.
I wish you could have seen Ali put Huddie to bed, Ali certainly has patients, got him to take a bath even and she and Autumn read to him. He had a fit but was a good boy.
SUNDAY Ali, River, Autumn, Skye and I went to the Science Museum and Omni theater.
What fun and then Ali and the kids went home after Skye cut Rivers hair.
I had a wonderful Mothers Day weekend, spent time with the kids and Grandkids and Mac and Laura gave me a wonderful Shutterfly book of our Mexico trip and Skye made me the most beautiful lap robe made from my Mothers blouses complete with feather stitching.
Got home MONDAY by 2:15, unpacked the car and made my 3pm dentist appointment, I lost part of a tooth on Friday night when Skye and I had dinner. I did some laundry and made my 6:30pm Lions meeting. Did I mention Jim had flowers for me, they were beautiful.
Tuesday I drove Gail to her radiation treatment appointment in Hibbing and we had time to go to a Goodwill store and I found a Chico blouse and two purses. Fun.
I got to the school to vote yes to a school bond issue, it failed by 36 votes. We really needed it to
pass. Jim and I had a nice dinner, he even had flowers waiting for me on Monday. Silly man,
I probably don't deserve him but I sure am blessed to have him.
WEDNESDAT we had Bone Builders and after I started cleaning out our Sunday School room at church. Got a hold of Nancy Green and she was going to run over to Walker alone on Thursday and pick up some death certificates and I told her I had time to go today so we went,
and also hit the grocery store. Rained all day.
We got a call from Darla to dinner so we picked up Jim and went out to Sugar Lake to Darla and Willies for dinner. Home by 8:30 and had a lovely dinner.
THURSDAY we have two appointments, Crafters this morning and a weight loss program in Brainers at 1pm.

SATURDAY
Here another week has gone by. We certainly have had a dryer than normal Spring. I was going on an adventure with Dot to Lou's Nursery in Big Stone SD but it turns out by next Friday when we we to go they probably would be out of plants. I know she wants tons of Geraniums for the restaurant. I need to talk to Mac, we also were making plans for going out on his pontoon next Saturday. It looks like that is our best bet for no rain. There is rain on the forecast and we need lit. Fire danger right now is high.
My back seems to be an issue these days and I am anxious to get outside and do some cleaning in the woods. Maybe Jim and I can clear another small area. You should see what he did last year in the Dogs fenced in area. We planted a Honeycrisp Apple tree. We want to plant two more in that area. We. Think there is room and the deer wouldn't be able to get at them so easy and break the limbs. That is what happened to our last apple tree.
We hear there is another huge bear in the neighborhood but he or she hasn't been here yet. The bear has been across the street.
I work at the library today. I did prayer group yesterday at 9 and Bone Builders at 10 and we cleaned the church at 11. Next week we clean at 10 on Wednesday because Linda is gone.
Gearing up for the Rummage Sale. It's funny because even when we are doing Bone Builders I sometimes loose count because I am gearing up for the rummage sale.
I wish I could just mark everything $2.00. Life is never that simple.
I need to get busy and make cookies too.
We are setting up differently this year and excited about the walking tacos stand.
I hate to see our members aging. It just gets harder and harder to do stuff.
There is still so much to do at church to get ready.
I am excited. It should be one of our best years ever.
Shower time. Had a nice note from Sonja yesterday and when I go to the cities for Mothers Day next week I really need to get in touch with some old friends.

FRIDAY ALREADY
I wish I didn't have such a difficult time getting online. I have to use my phone for a "hot spot" to connect to wifi and it can be such a pain, sometimes I just give up and have Jim set his phone to our hotspot connection.
Sometimes technology is not my friend.
Some very sad news, our friend "Skee" had just been put in to Hospice care.
I have always had such a special place in my heart for him. We had such sun together when I first joined the church and we were working together on the narthex. That was fun when we added that on, or when we got the parsonage ready for our pastor.
We will miss Skee's gentleness so much.
This week has been caotic but what else is new.
It is Friday and prayer group is at 9am - bone builders at 10am and clean the church at 11am. My back is not doing all that well so I am glad I have nothing scheduled for the rest of the weekend. I would like to go and see Skee. Will have to find out.
Food, I need food.

HUDSON'S BIRTHDAY
WHAT A BLAST - Hudson had a "Lego Theme" party, I had the pleasure of making Lego Rice Krispie bars. Dot stayed over at Skye's on Friday night and helped me. We make two huge pans with M&M's. What fun, we also went to Moe's for the meat raffle and had wonderful chicken nachos.
On Saturday I needed to be at Mac's by 9:30, the party was such fun. Laura is so very clever and everyone loves Pinterest these days.
Skye got there by need for the pizza party. There were 10 kids and I believe Hope got out every one of her play dresses, thank goodness Skye helped put her room back in order and by 2:30 she and I went back to her place to nap. I napped.
Laura picked me up by 5:15 and we met Jim at Moe's for dinner, they have such good food. Jim went back to Skye's to munch on the Sour Cream Raisin Pie, it's the second she bought him, she truly believes a way to a mans heart is his stomach and in his case - she would be right. A thank you for Mexico.
Laura got us tickets for the High School play "Beauty and the Beast", it is the second play we have gone to together, I am so glad she included me, her niece was in the play and has a beautiful voice.
We went home on Sunday.

THURSDAY IS CRAFTER'S DAY-BINGO-MEAT RAFFLE-FOOD SHELF
It is a busy day and has been a busy week and I guess I like it that way, with my back I am afraid if I slow down too much, I will stop. There is so much to do. We changed our Bone Builders classes to 9am starting next week, irs on M-W-F and we do enjoy it. We have about 4-6 most days. I have spent About 3 hours putting away Sunday School stuff so it's all about the Rummage Sale - I still have to go through the Broiler Room but have made lots of headway.
I have the new flyer made up and have to look at the wooden signs and get them ready and I want Jim to make me new sandwich boards but I am finding resistance. Harvest church had some really neat ones and I would like to copy them, I will see Noreen later today.
In Bible Study we are doing Ruth. You know the passages well, "where you go, I will go, where you lodge I will lodge, your people shall be my people, your God, my God".
Well I wrote in tones more but lost it so I have to start again.
All for today.

TUESDAY - LET IT SNOW - LET IT SNOW - LET IT SNOW
Well here we are back in snowy Minnesota, the fireplace is on and all is well.
Big news, Hudson is having a 4th Lego party and I get to make the Lego rice krispie treats for the kids. Saturday at 10 am, I need to be there or be square.
Will be fun to see the kids.
Thank God for birthdays.
I have been busy busy since I have been home.
Worked at the Library on Saturday and after we had a baby shower at church for Lutheran World Relief. Making baby bundles.
Fun and we played bingo with marshmallows.
Sunday church and in the afternoon I picked up June, Raquel and Martha and we went to:
The Grand Rapids All Male Chorus, along with a big band called: Swing Delivery that played some great music for us, things like Once in Love With Amy, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Lullaby of Broadway, Facinating Rhythm and a few others.
It was a fun concert and all for $10.
Monday was busy, Bone Builders at 10, then we were in Grand Rapids grocery shopping, home by 2:30 and I went to the Library to check the schedule. Ran over to the church and put some felt feet on some of the furniture in the Narthex.
Easier for moving the furniture.
Then came home and got ready and went to a Lions dinner and meeting. We now have new Polo Shirts. I have a Medium, I could have used a Large. Big girl for Daddy.
I am off in an hour, picking up June and we work the Library today. Bringing Sour Cream Banana Nut Bread for coffee for the Ladies. It is SENIOR DAY.
I HAD BETTER GET AT IT. I HAVE TO FIT IN WORKING, whoops, forgot cap lock on. I have to clean out the boiler room at the church. Maybe today. Have this afternoon open,
You should see the scarves I have been making lately. Too fun. Made 4 for Gail and her daughters, with rope stars and hearts for a,pattern, for all the cowgirls.

VACATION PART II
Well the reason I am doing another entry is because I can only type so long on the iPad in large print and to add to it becomes a huge pain.
My favorite part of this entry is talking about how Mac got up every morning and made breakfast for everybody. I wish I could add pictures. it just doesn't work as it used too.
Mac's. Omlets every day were amazing.
It brings tears of joy when I think of Mac, Laura, Hope and Hudson, Skye and Alexis. I have to thank Skye for turning 40 this year. That was the catalyst for kicking this trip off.
What a blessing.
Whar a fellowship, What a joy Devine, leaning on the everlasting arms. remember that hymn.
It's funny, I go to prayer group on Friday mornings and we were talking about a particular hymn.
"All is well, with my soul". I was thinking how special the words were and put it out of my mind till we were doing cleaning with Roger and Jean.

VACATION SEEM SO LONG AGO
Well it is SATURDAY and I am off to the races again.
My calendar just seems so full and I am sure it is that way for most retired people. I don't think it was that way for my brother Lynn. We are coming up on his one year anniversary of his death. He would have been 75 last year - I will be 74 this year.
My my how time flies by.
Retirement is so much fun. So much variety of things to do.
Bu the way you wouldn't believe how very dry my skin is from being in the Mexico and Arizona sun. When you live in the North it feels so wonderful just being in the sun.
I want you to know our tanning booth in town feels just as good.
To have that kind of warmth penetrate your whole body is just a delight.
I may go again. I went before Mexico so I wouldn't burn there and I didn't.
Jim and I weighed in at the Doctors office yesterday and I gained
4 #'s. Jim's weight is his business but he is a big boy for Mamma.
We both eat things that are bad for us. With me it's the wine and salty things and him the sweets.
My goodness so much to write.
I don't know how to thank Barb, Courtenay's Mother. Courtenay Is one of Skyes best friends and that is who we rented the townhouse from. Barb's home in Mexico was spacious and beautiful.
A huge 4 bedroom 4 bath home. Complete with pool outside on the patio. In a gated community on the ocean. I would open my bedroom curtains to the patio in the morning and see the tide rolling in. What a sight.
Punta-Esmeralda.com is the website.
You should take a look. My goodness it was lovely and we have Barb to thank for the rental. Mucho Gracias.
To be with Mac's family, Alexis and Skye for 8 nights was truly a delight.

HELLO FROM SUNNY ARIZONA
Well here I am in sunny AZ sitting at Sonja's table drinking coffee.
I have had a heck of a time getting on my hotspot. That is the reason my Blog has been short lived.
Oh technology. Be my friend.
Having coffee with Irish Cream. Yum.
Talked to Ozzie this morning. Fun.

WEDNESDAY MORNING
Well I am back. It has taken me this long to figure out how to get on line with my new phone. I finally had to stop in at the Verizon store in Grand Rapids.
What a twit!
You know what? I just wasn't right thinking.
It does take a long time to teach an old dog new tricks.
Enough of that.
We sure are enjoying the ripples of Spring.
Last week was heaven, (even got up to 70 one day) even though Mother Nature snapped us back to reality this week with strong winds and colder temperatures.
Glad for Jim, our Grandson Andrew came up yesterday, he is John and Pam's second oldest. Alex is the oldest and he just moved from Grand Forks back to Hasting's.
Here I lost so much I had written because I got kicked out of the Internet.
I can't even remember all what I was writing about.
Busy day today.
Soup supper tonight, making split pea. Love it and I have some good ham.
Jim and Andreew are out fishing.
It is so nice to have John work at Red Wing shoes.
Jim got some new rubber boots.
He needed them.
We have been really lucky. So many have been super sick with the crud and it has come back to people that think they are over it.
Having fun at home today.
Going to make a dessert for Jim and Andrew. Cherry & Blueberry Delight. Will split it and make 1/2 & 1/2.

SATURDAY MORNING
Well here it is Saturday morning and the week has again sped by. Wednesday was busy and so was Thursday. I think on Thursday I went to Bethany Crafters, in fact we met at the Higher Grounds coffee shop. They have a lovely room P in the back and it was June, Marcia, Randy and I and we stayed for lunch. That evening I worked the meat raffle with Susan. We always have fun working together. I even won some pork. $15 worth. I buy lime salt in tiny salt shakers at the Muni. I like it on my apples and believe me, I do have my share of apples these days.
I didn't weigh in this week. On Thurs I should have popped in at W.W. but it wasn't in my schedule. Can only be at one place at on time, and I can't find my W.W. booklet. Shoot.

Friday I went in to church early to get started on cleaning, then Pastor and I had our prayer meeting at 9am. Poor Linda was sick and couldn't make it. At 10 am we had bone builders and Betty, Sally and Darlene showed up. Fun and sometimes grueling.
After we cleaned church, Nancy S. had come in early and disinfected the kitchen and tables, Betty did the bathrooms downstairs and Sally swept the floors and Darlene vacuumed. I headed upstairs to do the Narthex and Jean and Roger did the Sanctuary, it was fun to hear Jean play the organ we have in the back of the church that was donated. Patty Lund came in and washed all the tile floors up and down. What a blessing to have so many help to keep God's house in order. I even remembered to water the plants. I will have to stop over at Linda's today and see how she is feeling. She has the crud. Everyone up here either as it, is getting it or is getting over it. I am in the latter category. I had just a mild case. It never really kept me down.
Today I work at the Library from 10-2.
Will be fun.
Been there a lot lately.
I am so excited, we made the final preparations for the weekend of Mac's birthday.
Skye - Hope and I are going to see Oliver at the Pantages.
Jim was ice fishing yesterday and the day before and I can't remember before that.
So glad he loves it so. He just doesn't fish, he catches.
With the summer fish fry's we have - he needs to catch.
I am sure he will try a different lake today. We sure have had mild weather.
What luck.
Mac dropped his Dad and Sandy off at the airport for 3 weeks in Maui. What fun for them and their bunch of friends. So glad he is enjoying retirement. I sure am.

MONDAY MORNING
My wonder dog "Makons" decided at 3:30 she wanted out. Here is the rub. She won't go out without Otto and Otto isn't an early riser.
What a hoot. Makons just sits and woof's till Otto gets up. It is so irritating.
Then before you can say Donald Duck little Oto is scratching to get back in.
I need to give Orro a bath if I can fit it in.
Busy but then every day seems busy.
FRIDAY the crud that is going around caught up with Linda.
She is sick as a dog so I went in and started cleaning the church early on Friday at 8:30 and then prayer group with Pastor Dale. He will be gone this week. A break. It was good meeting with him, I wish more would Jojn our prayer group, so far it is just Linda and I.
Of course we had Bone Builders at 10am and at 11 we cleaned the church, Nancy S disinfected all the tables and kitchen, Sally swept all the downstairs tile floors and Betty cleaned the bathrooms. Darlene vacuumed and Patty mopped all the tile up and down and Roger and Jean did the sanuarary, I the narthex and pastors office and upstairs bathrooms. It's a big church but we have a wonderful team that can do the job. YAHOO.
I worked at the Library Saturday and got a lot of the paperbacks in alpha order. We are putting in new shelving. Looks good and the balance of the shelving should arrive today. I will be there by 8am. Whold cleaning I came upon Linda's valentine cookies, I had one, my first sweet in a month. I don't think I am making any progress. I feel fat as a pig. Didn't weigh in last week. Will Tuesday night.
SUNDAY was fun, church, Went to Martha Wilde's because she wasn't in church. She came down with the crud. She is 89 so not good. I love visiting her dog "Foxie" and she has the hugest solid gray cat. So friendly. I needed to bring her our bible study book.
Then I went to Nancy Green's and brought over a different bath chair. I think it will work better. Her other one is just so huge. I talked about Grand Rapids and she said a ride would be fun so we took off. As we got to the North end of town on the shortcut, we realized we were only 1/2 a mile away from The Grand Itaska Rehab Center and Dee Hanson's husband is there with a broken leg so we called Dee and she was on her way there and we did the pop in.
He looked way too good to be a patient.
We then went to Wall-Mart. Nancy had never been on one of their scooters. We we remedied that and off she went to do a little shopping in her electric cart. It's a big stor and walking it is just not realistic for her. Was fun and I picked up some suit for the birds at Cub. I forgot my Honeycrisp apples. I am upset I forgot them. I just ate my last one.
I would like to go to the Y this afternoon. All depends on the shelving and when FED EX drops them off.
I need the walking. I finally got my fitbit online. About time.
I talked to my Alexis this morning. So good to do so. I miss my kids but their life is so busy.
Well I need to clean up my sewing room. Can't put it off any more. I think I will take a CD player to the Library. They don't have one and I think I have a few.
Life is good.
Jim has informed me we need to tighten our belts. Now is that realistic and with my mentality about money, how do I do that. I have my upcoming trip with the kids. So excited about that.
Can't wait.

JUST POSTED THE WONDERFUL FAMILY NEWS - NOW TODAY'S NEWSHe
Here it is Thursday already and I have to decide where to go to weight watchers today. Susan couldn't reach me on Tuesday morning so she made other plans for the W.W. Meeting in Walker. I was having fun with Sharon getting her on her way. She had been here since Friday and our time together was jam packed with fun events. On Saturday we were working at the Library and she got all the paperbacks from "P" into the "S's" in order. We have new shelving for the paperbacks. Four bookcases and two more will be arriving by Friday. We are excited. I know, it's a silly excitement, like over a new recipe for salmon marinade. I have one by the way we just love.
MARINATED SALMON
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons lemon pepper
2 cloves minced garlic
1 pound skin on salmon fillet
Marinate overnight skin side up
Broil 6" from broiler 12 minutes
Allow salmon to rest 5 minutes
OK I never pretended it was good for you but it sure taste good. Anyway back to reporting, we feel we accomplished much at the Library, got home by 2:30 and had some homemade chicken vegetable soup ad left for D.O.S.S., it was at Nancy Green's. Fun fun fun.
Sunday of course we had church but I can't remember Sunday afternoon. Don't you just hate memory lapses.i know we had the wonderful lake trout fish Sharon brought up. she also brought up some Korean Sesame Sauce, a Kalbi Marinade made by Kowalski's in Minneapolis. I could drink it, it's good. I will buy a case next time I go to Mpls. Which will be for Mac's birthday, Fedruary 21st. Skye and I are taking Hope to the Pantages to see "Oliver". Back to dinner, Sharon always brings us something wonderful. It was.
I wish I could remember, oh yes, Sharon took Jim and I out to lunch at "The Pickled Loon" a new bar in Remer. It replaced "L.J.'s".
MONDAY of course we had Bone Builder's at 10am and we took a drive over to Longville. Almost everything was closed on Monday in Longville. What a hoot. I did get some flowers for Gail who is going through Chemo. We dropped them off on the way home. Sharon being a breast cancer survivor had a little something for Gail.
We had soup again for lunch, I made a stock pot full, yummy.
Sharon took off TUESDAY morning and we had to go to the Rapids. Our tires are not holding air the way they should. We stopped in at Verizon and looked at the new phones we are going to get. By hook or by crook Jim is going to get a waterproof one. We will go back on February 12, that is the date we sign our new contract. Jim has since talked to Verizon and we will update some things and get some discounts. He is a master at that.
We got some more flowers, the ones I got at Tabakas in Longville were already fading so I got 2 bunches at Cub, when I got home I brought a bunch to Martha and a bunch to Gail from the women at church. The WELCA women. On Wednesday Jim and I went out to see Marcia and Al. Now starting Monday he will be facing skin grafts.

WONDERFUL WONDERFUL FAMILY NEWS
Well what a blessing that has happened, my brother Mark and his girl Jean have finally made it official. They are engaged.
How very wonderful for Mark and how very wonderful for us to have yet another sister. She is perfect for Mark and I love the Gislason connection. She is the widow of Lyle and Lyle is the brother of Neva Gislason on of my sear friends and classmates from school. Lyle is a year older than Neva and I. I just wish Neva was around to enjoy it. Can't wait to tell Deanne.
Loosing friends is the part of life you have to accept but you never get used to it. I still miss Audrey and she has been gone at least 28 years.

Near the end of JANURARY
Well here we are almost to the end of Janurary.
At least 4 Sunday's have passed. Today is our Grandson's Finley and son John's birthday. John is our oldest and now he is 45. Can you believe it. Our bookends Mac almost 37 and John 45.
Life goes by so fast. So fun to see the kids grow. Jim is having the time of his life Ice Fishing.
I am having lots of fun doing doing doing. Jim is in the cities for an uncle's funeral. I was there for granddaughters Hope's birthday party and for the funeral of a good friends son.
This is really a busy week. I am excited because my. Friend Sharon is coming up for the next DOSS.
I am so excited. We has our annual church meeting Sunday and a party out to Chuck and Pam's. We went for a walk in the wood, some wore snow shoes but they really weren't necessary, we just don't have enough snow. They made a wonderful pot of chili, Linda brought some wonderful breads and Jean cookies and I brought the herring, pitc crackers and Audrey brought crackers. What a fun day for a church get together.
HEY it is now the first day in February.
Lucky me Sharon Kuubits is up for a visit. We worked at the Library yesterday and went yo D.O.S.S. (Wine club) last night, too fun. Church this morning and chicken dinner tonight.
I so appreciate company willing to make the 3 1/2 hour drive to see me. Wish my kids would treck this way more often. I know, they are busy. I know.
I can't see that on Valentine's day we will be having the dog sled races. We don't have enough snow right now. They may be getting blasted out East but not here.

A NEW YEAR
Well here we are in 2015, in all honesty, thinking back to 1999, and yes the song by the same name, 1999, by Prince is one of my favorites - and I do feel as if we have partied through the past 15 years. It is hard to believe we lost Mom in 98 and Stanley in 2000. And on New Years Eve Tif lost her 41 year old son, Craig. All of a sudden he couldn't breath. A light goes out.
So sad. The funeral is FRIDAY, I am busy Thursday night so I won't be going down till Friday morning.
We had a wonderful Christmas with Skye on Christmas Eve and with John and Carrie and families on Christmas Day.
The only sad note is Jane, Jim's ex-wife couldn't be there. She had been very ill and is in a home. Her heart is only working at 50% and to add to it had a tumor removed on her petuitary glan, she is always there and cooking and baking, she puts out the most lovely Christmas letter every year about the grandkids. She was missed.
We are back to routines, and life keeps us very busy.
On Monday my neighbor Linda and I went to our first crochet class. There are three. We are also practicing together at 8:30 .in the morning for 2 hours. We are good girls we are....
That takes care of Monday nights for a month.
It just seems the calender fills up so fast. We have bone builders every Monday and Friday morning at 10 am. There is a class offered free on January 12th in strength training for Seniors, a MONDAY, I have a conflicting schedule that day and I will have to see what I can do. I can't be in Crosby and Deer River at the same time.
We have crafter on Thursday mornings and once a month ..
WELCA on Thursday night and Lions once a month on
Monday night. On N.Y. Day we spent 7 hours doing Lions inventory. Counting unsold pull tabs. Hundreds and hundreds of them. Now on Thursday's I will be going to Weight Watcher meetings. I honestly don't know if there is anything I can do about my weight but I have to try. So here goes.
I will get to see Paul St Martin and I haven't seen him for almost 30 years.
His son Craig was 41, same age as Ali and Jay, we had a triple baby shower for them all.
Jim and I both got shots in our left eyes yesterday. We go to Brainerd for this. Wonderful Dr Reynolds does it. He finally took on another Dr. He is from Banglor India, tall and handsome. Tall is unusual for India.
We will get him sometime but not yet. Insurance, we just switched to another provider so we will see how we like it. Tomorrow I am having some work on the car done and I a going to get Jim to stop in at the YMCA in Grand Rapids and see if we now qualify for a silver sneakers program of some kind. I need to go to Crafter's Thursday and WELCA at night and W.W. In Longville and pack. Three nights in the cities and seeing the kids.
Maybe I get to babysit Hope and Hudson. Who knows.
My tree is still up and will be till Feb. then I will take the ornaments off and just leave it lit up.
I love lights, poor Jim, has to put up with me.
You should see the Roses I got for our Anniversary, a whole box of long stem red roses from Bogata Columbia, 25 of them, he bought the whold box. They still look great. Blessed to have such a wonderful man. 30 years next year. Do I hear a cruise in the works. I think so. It has been so cold this year we need it now. Oh well, by the by little Otto had an 8th birthday January 4th. Makons will be 9 June 4th. My goodness they like their dog treats. Boy do they have us trained.
I think I will get them started on a leaner dog food. I think I can pinch an inch on Makons.
I know I can pinch 2 inches on PJ. Kill me.
I love to eat.
I was able to paste a picture of Craig.
