My how time fly's, I am gearing up to go back home. On Tuesday Skye and I had fun. I arrived at her shop sometime around twoish. She did my hair, she first toned it and did "The Brazilian Blowout", and next I got a trim. You will have to google the blowout, she charges $100 for it and I guess that's a deal. My hair sure feels good. We then went to a movie, we saw Gangster Squad. Don't ask why. Silly and violent.
On Wednesday Dot and Nancy came over at 9am and Dot got a haircut, and then we were off to The Minneapolis Art Institute to see The Terricotta Warriors, we enjoyed it and ate at the Institute at D'Amicos. Loved the veggie burgers.
Wednesday night we went over to Mac & Laura's, picked up pizzas and had fun with the kids.
It's Thurs morning and time to get going. Have a Doctor appointment in Baxter at oneish.

MONDAY
Sunday was wonderful, we ushered, I read the lessons, we had our annual meeting and we served coffee and rolls and bars after church, wonderful Janet mad 3 pans of cinnamon rolls with orange frosting she brought out of the goodness of her heart, love that lady.
Sharon left about 1pm, we ate so much at church we didn't even have lunch till later. I took the rest of the day off, worked on brushing my little Otto. He needed it.
Watched my favorite shows on TV, The Diamond Queen on public TV and of course Doubton Abby, I also watched the Chatsworth, the special about that castle. Very good.
The only thing I have on my calendar for today is a Lions meeting tonight. I wonder if I can go without eating their dinner, they are so bad but I really just wanted to have dinner with Jim.
I am going down to see Skye for a couple of nights, will probably stop and see Alexis on the way.
Need to clean and dust my bedroom today. I should do some work in the camper but it's so cold out there. We are in the middle of a cold snap, 14 below yesterday and 25 mile an hour winds on Sat. The wind died down on Sun.
Today's devotions are from Matthew 16:13-19, how the church is built on a rock and Simon is now known as Peter. Love this story.

SUNDAY - MY FAVORITE DAY
My last two posts got all mixed up. They got turned around. Tuesday got listed after Saturday. Weird Harold.
Sharon Kuubits arrived here safe and sound on Thursday late in the afternoon and we had a lovely fish dinner with sweet potato fries in the oven. Yummy. Some nice Italian wine, Opula a red blend, from a Tuscan cooperative of over 200 growers from that region. It's a blend of Cabernet, Sangiovese, Syrah and Merlot. Anyway it was good wine. Of course we also enjoyed my Black Box Merlot and last night the Radio Boca Red.
Friday was Sharon Day, which means what ever you want to do, we will do. Friday morning I had a Doctor appointment so we got a late start but off to Grand Rapids. We had lunch at Forest Lake and then off shopping. I found outdoor boots and socks at Glen's Surplus. We also went to the Goodwill Store, I found 4 cute tops. Couldn't help myself, they were too cute and toe more small luncheon plates to match my winter dishes. We went to Bender shoes, found nothing, that store is just too expensive.
We went to Target, I needed a couple of things, now I have to write them in the check book. Yuck.
We had a nice steak dinner and had movie night. We watched Cary Grant in "The Bishop's Wife", loved it and you all should have been here Saturday, we went to Walker, I found some black pantsand Sharon found twoturtle neck thirsts, and we had lunch but the best part was when we got home and got ready to go to the party on Big Sand Lake. I wish we would have taken pictures. Sharon did have the cutest hat on, the wind was blowing off the lake and everywhere at at least ar 25 miles an hour. What a day, we looked like Nannook of the North and her sister Gerta. What a pair, I could hardly sit down, I had to lean my seat back in the car to drive.
Jim and Gerry drove in about the time we were leaving and he certainly told us we were nuts, he brought the fish house back from Red Lake and with the wind it was fish tailing all over the road.
We went over to Nancy Greens, and stood facing the lake ready to take it on and lasted all of 2 or 3 minutes. The wind almost blew us over and if blown over we would have never been able to get upright again. We did the sensible thing, we came home and ate. We had all kinds of snacks. It was wonderful and I. Subjected Sharon to movie night again, this time Judy Garland and Van Johnson in, The Good Old Summertime, then we played "Racko" until we killed off a bottle of wine. Was really fun.
Will be a busy day today, we usher at church and we also have our annual church meeting, the wind has died down but it is 12 below.BURR!
The kids are at The Smith Christmas Party, it is an every year event in Shakopee at a motel that one of the cousins works at. There are so many cousins and second cousins I don't think they will ever run out of get to gethers. My side of the family is so small. I want to go down to see Skye next week and get my hair done. I have a second cousin I want to get together with, her Mom was Dawn and died last year and she wants to stay in touch and I am anxious to meet face to face. I think it will be the beginning of a very nice friendship, if I ever get the first meeting done.
Well, got to shower and get going. I wonder how many we will have at church today, it's so very cold out.

TUESDAY IS A WONDERFUL DAY
Don't we love to say our spouse is right, NO we don't, but this time he is and I will change the date of our next eye Doctor appointment. We need to coordinate the shots we get in our eyes with our vacation dates. On Monday we went to Sartell to see our Retina specialist, Dr. Reynolds, for our regular 8-10 week shot in our left eye. I am being selfish, can you imagine that? I spaced out the appointment incorrectly and on purpose so we could get the heck out of Dodge for a winter vacation. I need to grow up and realize how important it is, especially for Jim's shots. If we don't time it right he could go blind. His histoplasmosis is far more serious than my macular edema and I need him to see as long as possible. His love of reading the printed word is just not something to be ignored. My goodness he loves reading. I enjoy it but he revels in it.
Ui am sure I mentioned I just finished "The Postmistress", and now I am on to the second book in A Friday Night Knitting Club novel series. This one is "Knit the Season". Great fun.
For FEB 2013 we are reading
"Half Broke Horses" by Jeanette Walls.

Now I cut and pasted the title from my I-pad notebook and don't know exactly how to change back to my regular print so you will just have to put up with it.
It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Remer. We didn't leave until almost one and gunned it a bit and was able to get there a little after 3. Both Jim and I worked on our church stuff sor end of year financial statements, he is the treasurer of the church, a big job and I have a little job of being treasurer of WELCA, our church ladies group. My financial statement balanced for the first time in 6 years. If you don't succeed the first time, try, try again. At ChartHouse we did a film on that with English author "Tony Buzan", he is the inventor of Mind-Mapping". Really bright fellow. He authored so many books. We made and sold the "If At First" video/DVD, and it was so much about the fear of failure and how important failure is to us all, without it I didn't know how any of us would succeed when the chips are really down. Overcoming any fear we have by trying is so key. Wen we did his film we filmed part of it in a Pizza shop in St Paul. My Mac is part of the crowd. He must have been in High Schoolby then.
I think it's Saturday
It was a busy week, Jim and I went to Sartell on Monday and got the shots in our eye's. it really seems to take all day. We didn't leave here till one and got home by 9pm. Long day. I think Jim gets his eye poked three times and me only twice.
Tuesday I cancelled my Doctor appointment, I have a growth on the end of my nose, boy I know what you are thinking, that I really am The Wicked Witch of the West, NOT TRUE!
I went to Bible study at Janet's, Wenesday Teresa and I served at our WELCA meeting. Just muffins and fruit and coffee.
Thursday morning we had crafter's at Elaine's, loved the sausage or summer sausage, it was a gift to them from a magazine. Now I just have to remember the name of the magazine.

SUNDAY SWEET SUNDAY
If I recall last Sunday was crazy, I think after church we went to Grand Rapids shopping. I forgot how much I like spending my Sunday's at home. Too hectic. There was one thing about Sunday that was too wonderful. It was the "Downton Abby" premier for the 3rd season and yes I am a fan, I am hooked.
What a sap I am about British drama. I always thought if I could live my life over it would be during the 40ies because I love the Big Band music so. Maybe not. Last night the Big Band singers were on parade on a PBS special. Wonderful.
I have to make a comment on our last Creative Craftier meeting. I am an idiot, I don't think I will ever get crocheting, so far anyway it's a mystery. I am supposed to see the look of a "Y" in every stitch. I have yet to see it. I will work on it today. I really would like to go to a movie today. I just may if the theater is open this afternoon. I will check their website. Would you have imagined 20 years ago saying that. Anyway I will get the hang of crocheting, it just might take awhile.
FRIDAY was a weird day, I never got out of my pajamas. I don't even want to talk about it. Weird, not something I only do if I have had surgery and we all know, been there, done that. I don't know what I was thinking. The mail man even came to the door because he needed a signature. How cute I looked in all my layers of stuff. I won't repeat that soon.
On Saturday we worked a funeral, I was commissioned to bring sandwiches. I wish I could make the salad sandwiches buy it's not my thing. I bought buns and made summer sausage and Swiss cheese sandwiches, the trick is getting them back in the bag.
It was a small funeral because they already had one in the cities. Big family and most of them live there. Of course there was the matter of the ice storm we had on Friday, first it rained all day and then froze, then we had 2-3 inches of snow, Jim wanted to go ice fishing Friday afternoon and started off but as soon as he got on to the Long Lake road to go to Vermillion Lake the one ton truck with the V-plow on the front he started sliding to the side of the road. He backed the truck back on the highway and came home. Smart move.
I put a whole bucket I'd rid-ice right behind the Hearse at church. It was glare ice. Remove the snow and you could skate. The funeral was at one and we workers were all done by 3:30 and the off next door to the Pastor's and Gwen's 12 Days of Christmas open house. They had to cancel last Saturday because she was so sick with a cold. It was nice to sit down a relax with church friends. Se had way too much food. I don't know if but there were 20 of us total. She went to an awful lot of work. It was fun. Could I get my husband to come, we won't discuss that.
Well I have to figure out how to do pictures, I seem to have lost that ability. Technology, sometimes I think it is wasted on the old.
Later.

Bethany Crafters Today
Well, another week flying by. Today is a big day, at crafter's Lorretta is going to teach Linda and I how Ron crochet a shell lap robe. We thought we would start small wi a lap robe first. We will be using a huge "P" hook. Linda and I were so excited we went down to Outing, about 18 miles South, and we were so anxious we go there half an house early so we went to a boutique that was hooked on to the Gas Station. Only in Northern Mn can you get gas and shop at a really unique boutique. Besides coffee that Linda bought me I bought a bracelet and earrings. Too cut for words. We got to the yarn store at 10am when they opened and found some Debbie Norvell soft worsted yarn, we each purchased 6 skeins.

SATURDAY NIGHT
Well it seems I am saying this every week and I never seem to finish a single day. I hosted Bethany Crafter's Thursday morning and did I run around all week getting ready. I had to put away at least 8-10 tubs of Christmas decorations before they came, I forgot how much work it is.
There were 5 of us for Crafter's, I will have to post a picture one day. When I cam figure it out.
Well Jim and I took off by noon on Thurs at noon and Crafter's goes till 11:30. WOW. We got up to Red Lake about 2:30 I think and we were fishing pretty darn quick. We got our limit of Walleye's which is 4 each and the slot 15-20 inches we can keep and over 27 inches. We never saw anything over 19 inches but got some real good eating for a few meals, will have to take some South with us.
We got home by 2 or so. We were going to go to Pastor's for a 12 days of Christmas open house but they got sick and has to cancel. It's always fun too. We also had to cancel the neighborhood party a couple of weeks ago because Gordy couldn't control his bloody noses. Poor guy.
Do you think the kids are ready to go?

2013 HELLO OUT THERE
Can you stand it. Time goes so fast, having lots of fun but it does go too fast.
Yesterday I spent 4 hours with Nancy Green and Gail driving to Boy River and Federal Dam.
We did inventory for the Lion's which means we have to count all the unused pull tabs at the bars that have our boxes. It is actually kind of fun. Good company and helping out.
Jim and I had our New Years Anniversary dinner on New Years Day because we went to Georgin's and Bruce's annual New Years Eve party and it was such fun. What wonderful hostesses they are and we players some trivia, I WON A RUBBER CHICKEN THAT SQUAKS!
Is that how you spell squak? I know it's not. More later.
