THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH AND FALL

I can't believe it's going to be Sept. tomorrow.  Another summer has come and gone.  I am so blessed to have seen another one.  It's been another busy week.
Mon. I was just tired and really didn't do much but I was on the road Tue. Morning by 5:30 AM heading for Little Falls to pick up Alexis to swing back thru Brainerd so she could get a shot for her back.  We got that taken care of and I even got to see River and Autumn.  We went out for a bite for lunch in Little Falls.  Back to Brainerd because I had a 2 PM appt. to get a shot in my eye for my macular  edema.  I go only every 10 weeks but Jim has to go every 6 weeks for shots, it's not going well for him.  His vision is getting worse.
I got really tired going back to Brainerd.  I just have to pay attn. to it.  Got back to Remer just fine.
Wed. I started working on the sewing room.  A lot to do.  After I walked of course.  Church at 7 PM and Bible study after.  Fun getting back in the swing of things.
We are studying other religions.  I like knowing more about them and being open minded.  They gave us a handout and listed Mormonism-Christian Science-Jehovah's Witnesses as cult's.  I almost feel like that's a dirty word and don't like putting these religions in that category.  But what do I know.  Glad we are studying them.
Thurs. I picked up Janet Brown, she needed a ride to the Rapids to see her eye doctor.  I was going to see my car doctor.  They said I needed new brakes, got them fixed - oil change and rotate tires.  Over $600.  How special.
We had a lovely lunch at Applebee's, I love their ribs.  Did my shopping while Janet got a haircut.  It worked out great and we were home by 3pm.
We heard from Janet that Gordy across from us might need a transfusion so went over to check on him and Jim missed his dentist appt.  We be bad, can't even remember a dentist appt. we discussed earlier that day.
I had to be in Crosby to my annual eye exam, went well, an hour there, 2 hours at the clinic, a stop at their bakery, Otto and I enjoyed the great outdoors while I had coffee and a roll.  It was so yummy.
Jim went up 55 miles to Cutfoot Sue lake and brought home a mess of fish and corn on the cob for lunch.

PRINCE HARRY WASN'T THINKING WAS HE

I don't remember how old he is but old enough to know better.
We went to "The Pub" last night, Judy Probst 70th Birthday Bash, good food, good band and good beer.  Bethany church was well represented.  I should have brought the camera.  I sure didn't do much Sat. or Sun.  Silly me, I worked the funeral at church from 10 to 4pm.  Long time on my feet.  Jim came in about 1pm to help out in the kitchen.  Lot of the guys did.  Don, Paul, Jim, had to be more than that.  It was Betty's  first funeral to organize and she did a good job.  I brought Turkey sandwiches.  We quit doing hot dishes much to my dis-satisfaction but this really worked out well because they kept trickling down for an hour and a half.
We also had chips, dip, cake and bars.  Lots left over for ushering on Sun.  Jim and I helped Darlene who stepped in for Nancy and Skee.  In the afternoon we went over to Gordy and Junes across the street from us - Gordy turned 86 I think.  I have to run, time to go walking.  More later.

SKYE AT HER NEW SALON

She opened on the 16th of Aug.  Got her license on the 15th - loving every moment of it so far.

WANTED YOU TO SEE PICTURES OF THE KIDS

At Mac's and Laura's - my annual photo of the kids.

FUN DAY AT THE TICK

I put up another 6 quarts of refrigerator pickles this morning, while doing dishes I had to lean on the sink, back gets a little sore when I am at it for hours but I recover quickly.  Poor kitchen floor needs some attention.  Can't help but get some of that wonderful sugar brine spilt.

We went to the Wood Tick theater today and enjoyed ourselves.  Jim went fishing in the morning, he is out right now as a matter of fact, that man never seem to get tired of it and always excited to be going.
We got a call from Don and Elsie and she has some tomatoes for us so I am going to put up some salsa today.  Would like to do some either mango or black bean and corn salsa.  Maybe I will do both.
We had a picnic in Akley's outdoor downtown park - fun statue of Paul Bunyan right there.  It's being worked on this year but I have pictures from last year that are good.  Sat with John and Darlene, Don and Elsie.  Just before we got there about 200 bikers were in the park, no not the kind of bikes that make the noise, the kind Lance Armstrong rides, yes I heard today he was stripped of all of his titles.  What a dumb thing to do, take drugs to win, if it's true that is.
Fun luncheon and a lady from the bike group gave us brownies that were light and packed with chocolate chips and carrot cake.  The frosting was amazing.  Yum Yum I say!   Jim was beside himself.
It was funny, we hurried home because we thought on the way home it was Friday, wasn't only Thurs.  We had to be at "The Pub" at 6pm on Friday for Judy Probst surprise 70th birthday party.  Just goes to show you we don't have a clue as to what day it is.
Will be a busy day because I have to make two loaves of sandwiches for the funeral tomorrow, over 200 are expected.  I don't know the woman but I will work like crazy.  So will Jim - he is good at the dishwasher and washing dishes.  The trays get heavy,

This is a picture of Dot and Nancy from last year.  Paul Bunyan is at the park where we have our picnic.  Of course both Dot's dogs Callie and Katie were there but Dot lost Katie over the winter.  She only gets rescue dogs these days and has lost three to cancer.  It's so say and I know no one on this earth that is a better dog parent than dot, except Skye is right up there too.  And me.  Hey anyone who loves their pet should be included.  We love our pets so much don't we.

Woodtick Theater today

Had church last night, it's neat to get involved again.  We are going through Galatians and with the insights of the others I am getting a lot more out of the Bible study.  Of course we sing.  We are "The Singing Church".  Too  fun and no one can play a piano like Gwen.

I SURRENDER

I should pay attention when the computer tells me an error has occurred, you loose everything you put in after.  HELLO!  Why am I surprised when it happens.  Who knows maybe someday I'll get it.
The week sure seems to get away from me.  I have things on the calendar everyday this week.  Mon. We did our weekly buying trip to the Rapids.  After our two mile walk on the school track.  Linda has joined us the last two days and Jeannie joined us on Mon.  The eight times around the track goes so much faster when someone shows up and Susan and Gary are on vacation.
My banana is a little ripe today.  It is now Thurs. and I am getting back to my notes.
I have misplaced my cookbook that I wanted to use for Refridgerator pickles.  It's Lyn Hops mom's recipe from her church cookbook.  My kids won't have to look for my name in any cookbook.  It didn't happen.
Tue. I went to see Krista, a young girl (7th grade) from church play volleyball only the game was cancelled so I only stayed 20 min., fun to watch the kids try so hard.
Mac will be happy to know I bought the correct ink for my printer and his old printer works beautifully, it sure doesn't seem very old. Mine was purchased new and it was more outdated than this Canon printer.  It's lovely.
I also bought some blank Dvd's.  I had told Mac I needed him to look ar my laptop because it wasn't duplicating but it is now, I may have purchased the wrong blanks.
Tue. Night was big for me.  As a member of The Lions, I have been pretty inactive, well I worked Bingo for the first time this year and had a good time.  I think it's next week I work the meat raffle.
I also bought a big ice cream scoop, my last one broke and it works so slick for filling muffin tins.  I buy the Krusteaz brand Banana Nut muffin mix and instead of milk I use apple sauce, more moist, and throw in more pecans, heavens you could throw in craisens too if you wanted.
They are so yummy, love em.
Wed. I just am trying to clean out a bookcase and do some office things.
We have a big funeral Friday so have to get ready for that too.

A TRULY BEAUTIFUL DAY

It's like Indian Summer outside.  I don't know what happened to Friday or Sat. but here it is Sunday already and I wondered outside after church and took some pictures.

ME and my shiny new Fridge that was delv. on Sat.  Sat took most of the day cleaning out two fridge's and when the guys got here at noon we were ready for them.  We had them take the one out of the "Shop",  Pole bldg. and take with them, the refridgerator part of it quit and we put the one from the kitchen in the "Shop" and we should be in business again.

Jim is mowing the lawn as you can see.  Ali's camper is by our fire pit in front of our poplar woods.  When we moved here the trees were only 15-25 feet tall and now they are really tall.  We have a path through the woods from the back yard but I haven't been on it for two years.  I wonder what shape it is in and if that is the path the bear is using.  He has been leaving bear scat (they probably don't call it that) all over our mound behind the septic system at the beginning of our path.  Heck he threw up twice by the house, too much bird seed, we have removed the garbage can with the sunflower seeds in it to the shed.  he climbed over the fence every night for at least 4 nights, Makons has a bark that sounds more like a seals because she is so horse from barking at the bear.  I have left her out at least two nights because I can't get her to come in and I don't think the bear likes dogs, at least that is what I have heard.  It would be another thing if Makons attached the bear but I don't think she would, she just likes to bark at the bear, Otto likes to get excited but mostly from the deck.  Brave Otto!

This is a wonderful picture today of one of the DeBoer brothers in our upper field cutting hay, the
other brother is in the lower field with another tractor cutting.  A kiss of fall.

I bought this stone in the fall of 2010 after both Toto 4 that belonged to Skye and Toto 5 that belonged to Alexis died.  It's out in Mother's Meadow.  The tree behind it I planted right after we bought the land after Mom died and it is getting bigger and bigger though it was off to a rough start as you can see by the North side.  I planted a lot of other pines in memory of other people but none of those made it.  I have since replanted a bunch and they are coming along just fine.

Mom's tree in Mothers Meadow.

Our screened in porch and overhang where we have our fish frys and family reunion dinners.

Our plum tree.  I though I would try and make plum sauce for Jim's ice cream.  We will see.

It's Electronic Day in Remer

I am committed to work on the Attic in the pole bldg. today.  It's so good to feel up to it.  I spent 2 1/2 hours out there and got started.  I am so much better at throwing things out and packing things up for the rummage sale we will have again next spring.  Out sale last year was only 1/2 of what it normally is but it was early and I was sick.  Half was wonderful, money for the church.

D.O.S.S.

We had a fun time at Jean Olaon's home last night, what an unusual meeting.  We talked of how we wanted to be remembered and sang songs and danced.  Jean has a beautiful organ that lights up like a new car.  What a time we had.  What a wonderful hostess.  Great food and the wine flowed freely.

CLASSMATES ANNUAL FISHING TRIP & WELCA LUNCHEON

Ronnie Scavo arrived early this morning so The Three Muscateers are off to pursue the slimey fishes swimming in the lakes hereabouts.

I had a wonderful time at our WELCA event today, it was one of the best salad bars I have ever had, we even had wonderful crossings to devour and devour we did.  We had a wonderful meeting and I need to get on the stick and talk to Joshlyn about advertising for the Fall Craft Fair the last Sat. In Oct.

W.E.L.C.A. & The BEAR

The Bear is back and he's gonna be in trouble. Hey La Hey La the Bear is Back!  I can tell because the Deer feeding barrel has been tossed aside and the dogs went nuts last night about 2 am.

We have our Big luncheon for the women of Bethany today.  We who are active in
WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America).

Sometimes I get so mad because when I go off line I loose all I have typed.

Frank Yates came yesterday for Jim's annual fishing trip with the classmates.

Harvest Festival

Another successful Harvest Festival under our belt.  Bethany tooh in at least $2600 this year, and after expenses it should come in around $22-2400 somewhere.
It ended Dot and Nany had to cancel.  Dot started getting her electrical impulse headaches and Nancy moved her Mom up tp live with the sisters in Mpls.  She is about 93, born same year as Stanley, my step-dad.  I have known Nancy since the 6th grade and Stanley and Gloria are graduates from Minneota High School.  Gloria is Nancy's mom.
We made the decision to put up a 3rd pole bldg.  for the small stuff.  He will do it this winter.
I wonder if I will ever get signed up into a Library System.  I just never seem to be able to do it.

DOT'S DOG CALLIE

PRE HARVEST FESTIVAL

I can't believe the day is here already.  Got up at 4am.  That's nothing new considering how early I go to bed.  Dot and Nancy are coming today to help out.  So nice to have a couple more pair of hands to do the work.  What would I do without friends.
I made Heidi's recipe, actually it belongs to Maggie her Mother-in-law.  "Maggie's Farmer Donuts"!  Jim was my taster last night.  He had two after dinner for dessert.  I made them for the workers this morning at church.  Yesterday we boiled the potatoes, eggs, cut up onions and celery.  I picked up some cinnamon rolls, good but it was fun to make something for today.
Today per Teresa's instructions we assemble the potato salad.  Jim is the "stirer", I wonder if there is such a word.  Jim and I outside our door.
Myself and Nancy in front of Chase on the Lake.  Are the hanging baskets large enough.

Nancy, I and Dot at Chase on the Lake.

Alexis and I at her house.
I am writing this on my laptop.  A lot easier than doing it on my I-pad, which I can't find this morning.  I used it yesterday for doing the donuts, lets see if it's easier doing it this way.  I think so.

Light Oh Light -Where Are You?

I am waiting for it to get light so I can walk with Sue at the track.  I didn't realize it stayed dark so long.  As I look to the South I see the sky lightening some.  I want to use my walking sticks today, I finally remembered to put them in the car.
Today is a big day, we start the whole potato salad process.  Today we cook the potatoes and cook and peel the eggs.  IT'S HARVEST FESTIVAL WEEKEND!
We went to city hall last night.  Had a very nice time at a retirement for a member of our church Nancy Gustafson.  She retired from being the school bookkeeper after 33 years.

Psycho Suzies

It is driving me nuts, I can't seem to see what I am typing in my blog so this could be a real mess.  I also have pictures to out on from Dot's camera but that isn't going well either.  Skye and Dot are still asleep and I can't figure out her computer.  We hooked up with Holly last night afor dinner .  Fun time.  Here it's the old Gabby's on the Mississippe.  You can bring your dogs there on the patio.  We had Callie, Nico and Otto.

AUGUST ALREADY

Where does the time go?  We have two events at church coming up in August. One of course is the Harvest Festival and the other is the luncheon we are having for the church women.  I don't know what I did but I can't see what I am typing.  Sometimes this whole computer thing drives me nuts.
I am at Skye's home and Dot joined me yesterday because she needed a cut and wax.    We went to the salon for these services.
