MONDAY

Here it is MONDAY, where does the week go.  I know I worked at the Library on Saturday and I even went in an hour early because I couldn't get it through my head the correct time.  Silly me.
Oh my eye hurts, a STORY, I started working on getting the camper ready for our big trip and family reunion weekend.  Well I tripped going in to the camper, not a pretty sight.  1 1/2 black eyes, swollen    left knee, banged up right shin, scraped left elbow in other words I am pretty much of a mess - I hit my head so hard on the step inside my camper I had a headache and ached a whole bunch so I decided if I lived through the night, (a joke) I would really work at walking today and so far today 2 miles.  Walked 1 mile with Jim and 1 mile with Sue S.  I ache of course and I certainly look like I have been beat up but I feel really good.  I know I must slow down but it won't ever happen.
It is fun cleaning stuff out of the camper I just don't use and we thought since we are going over the really big Canadian Rockies West middle of July I should lighten the load up some.  I will do my part.  I wish you could see me.  Too funny.
Chicken for dinner tonight.

DOTTIE-DEBBIE-SUSIE

What fun I had.  I left by 8:30 on Wednesday morning to go to St Louis Park (SLP) Mac and Huddie were going out fishing with Jim.  I don't know if I asked if they caught Sunnies or not.  I got to Skye's by 11:30 which was real good driving since I stopped at a Goodwill.  I had forgot my wine glasses, bought 3, found a pair of sandal's for both Skye and I.  A want not a need.  I also found some tootsie rolls, my favorite candy.
Anyway got to Skye's Salon and good timing too because I had some storage containers and she had to get the office she occupies empty.  They are taking it back and shortening up her space.  She will be fine without it but that office has been her salvation.  She sews, knits, spends time on her hoodies and stuff, the owner wants to rent it out.  What's a girl to do.  She still has the 400 and some square foot salon.  Not the point but she has no control over the decision, it was made for her.  Not the end of the world.
Dropped off little Otto at Skye 's house and got on my way.  Arrived in SLP early so I stopped at Big Lots to look at a keyboard for my IPad.  Had them hold one and I was on my way to Pei Wei to meet the girls for lunch.  I arrived first, then Dottie, Debbie and Susie in short order.  We had a very nice lunch and headed to our hotel and checked in our hotel.  They charged an arm and a leg but it was very very nice.
We headed out for a walk to the West End to do some much needed walking.  We talked about Movies and decided we did all want to see Jersey Boys so we went and checked out the Local Theater.  We could see it at 4pm.  Decided that's what we would do.  Did a little shopping, found a fun gift for a friend and of course I found some cheap earrings.  Pink of course.  Really cute. Again a want not a need.
We went to Jersey Boys at 4pm and all just loved it. I can't wait to go with Jim.  He will love it.
After we couldn't believe all the people that gathered in The West End.  So very trendy.  All the outdoor seating was almost filled and as we were walking by The Cooper Pub we found a table for 4. We grabbed it and sat for a few hours taking it all in.  Food was good and people watching was great. We got back to our hotel, climbed in to our Jammie's and I uncorked a bottle of wine and we talked and leafed till midnight anyway.  A truly fun evening.  I am so blessed to have the girls in my life.  What laughs and what a fun time we had.
Next morning Dot had to run to get to a meeting for her brother so she checked out and I went downstairs for coffee, Susie came down a little later followed by Debbie and we all had a nice furnished breakfast and sat on the patio for a bit and were on our way by 9:30.
I went back to big lots, got my IPad  keyboard, A WANT not a need.  Had to kill some time before they opened and popped in to Lighting Concepts and found a inexpensive light for my guest bathroom.
I went to Mac's, he and I discussed me getting a new computer, mine is so slow it just drives you to distraction.  Got one at Best Buy and picked up Laura and the a Kids and went to Pub 42 down from their a few miles and met one of their friends, Amy and her son.  We had a very nice lunch.  I stopped back at Mac's and then off to Skye's to see how her day was going at the Salon and I still had a couple of hours to kill with Nico and Otto at the house.  I picked up some NY strip steaks and corn on the cob and a veggie platter.  She came home and we had a very nice dinner.
The next morning I got a pedicure and darling's my feet simply look marvelous.   Was my Mother's Day present.  I love it, I finally took off for Little Falls to drop Nico off, did so, saw River and Autumn for a flash and stopped to see beautiful Alexis.  She had her right arm wrapped, tennis elbow.  Darn, and I was off again for Remer, stopped at my favorite place in Brainerd, maybe this is why it's so hard to loose weight.  McDonald's.  Need I say more.  Otto and I got home by 1pm.
I was really tired, took a short nap, unpacked and showered and got ready for D.O.S.S. At Helen's house, Jim suggested I called Nancy Green and I did and she was going so I picked her up.  We really had a good time, small group but that even made it more fun.  No one gets left out that's for sure.  It was Helen, Jean, Gail, Nancy & I.  Tons of food and wonderful wine and of course dessert.  I should have taken a picture of it.  The dessert looked like a flag.  Blueberries and strawberries and whipped cream.  So yummy.  That's it and today 9-1 is Library so I had better get a move on.  Lots to do today.

TUESDAY AFTERNOON

Well here it is my last day of my visit with Mac and Huddie.  And what fun it has been, we had a wonderful dinner last night of NY strip, corn on the cob, sweet potato coins and Caesar salad and I have to add a lovely little rascal of the vineyard from Napa Valley from Hope and Grace Vineyard.  It was delis.
Smooth and believe you me I am not used to smooth.
Today we went to he Library from 9-1, Huddie and I had a fine time.  After Jim and Mac got  back from fishing we had burgers on the grill and after Huddies nap we took "The Bee" and drove down to Rice Lake, it is at least 7 miles, it is fun taking The Bee over hill and dale.  I know it's about 7 miles to Rice Lake.  Fun time.  On the way back we stopped at a bridge on our gravel road to Rice Lake to look at a turtle nest that was full of hatched eggs.  So many eggs.  Right by the Willow River.  We had a fun light dinner with chicken and baked beans, I am sure we had something else but I can't remember but we did have a wonderful Malbec.  We had a fire after Huddie went down.  My first of the season.  I burned up all the scrap wood and baskets that weren't worth selling at the rummage sale and a bunch of wood items that were junk.  Made a wonderful fire.  Of course we had wood roo.  I need to haul some up to the house.  What I really need to do is get the camper ready for our trip.  After Library on Saturday.   I am tied up till then.

MONDAY MORNING

Well where does the time go.  It has been a busy week, I don't even remember what I did last week but I do remember I did go in to church and do some left over rummage sale work, got some things put away, bench's, chairs, tables, I even pulled apart our screen partitions and pulled out two brown partitions that were stored in -between the gray ones and on Saturday Jim came in and hauled two of them to the dumpster over at the city offices.  I know we left for Duluth on TUESDAY and picked up my new sewing room/office cupboards.  I now have 12 feet of cupboards about 15 inches deep with double doors on each.  All white and neat and tidy.  I will fill those up with junk real quick.  First I have to haul the tubs back in the house with the junk in them.  I am going to start bags for the next rummage sale right away.
We had a nice lunch on Lake Superior.  Dogs could come with us since it was an outdoor place.  As soon as we got home Jim got right to it and it took at least 3 hours to get the first one together.  Only three to go but he was able to do 2 the next morning on WEDNESDAY before company came.  Frank Yates and Ronnie Scavo came up for a couple of days but actually only stayed one day.  Frank was concerned about Helen being alone during thunder storms and possibly too much rain so they left Thursday morning.  I made chicken on the grill, sweet potato wedges, Strawberry Salad and Rhubarb cake from scratch for supper and I did a sausage egg bake for breakfast.  Both the guys brought me my favorite thing, wine.  Sweet of them.
They stayed out in the suite in the pole building.
I have had the dehumidifier running for 2 weeks now.  I bought it at the rummage sale for Alexis.  Haven't been there to drop it off and forgot when I dropped our old toilet off.
THURSDAY I know there was a reason I couldn't help Joyce at the meat raffle but for the life of me I can't remember why.  It is almost like Thursday didn't happen.  We did something, I wonder what.  It will come back.
FRIDAY I made wonderful chocolate chip cookies for the bake sale, I brought them in about 1 pm when I was finished.  I call them Lori's Chocolate Chip cookies because it was an old housekeeper I used to have named Lori that gave me the recipe. They have cream of tartar in them.  Them melt in your mouth.   Brought in 4 dozen.  I can't remember what I did Friday night either.  This could be a problem.
SATURDAY was a busy day.  Thank goodness June across the way called me because I had forgot about our Fun Event at church.  Going Green.  We learned how to make all kinds of cleaning products for the kitchen, bath, dishes, laundry and we also had a brunch.  At least a dozen of us and wonderful Amber, Pam's daughter put it on, she has been doing it for quite some time and really swears by the stuff, besides being inexpensive compared to what you buy over the counter it is environmentally safe and non harmful to humans.  So nice not to have fumes do you in.  Then off to the Library for our 1st year anniversary and open house celebration with a bake and book sale from 10-2 and them we were fortunate enough to have Rhonda Fochs (fox)
do a presentation on her new book "Minnesota's Lost Towns", Northern Edition after the open house.  She plans on doing the rest of the state but it will take awhile.  Her presentation was really interesting with all the antidotal stories about towns that are no more.  I bought the book and have been enjoying it but I really wish I could just sit down with her and listen.  She was that good.
SUNDAY we went to church and I really wanted to work more on the sewing room and I did some but I also have a house to clean and wash to do.  I baked us a chicken and made mashed potatoes and gravy with peas.  Was fun and really good.  I went in to church for our first summer concert outside with bonfire, we sang patriotic songs.  It was fun and topped it off with Sundays.  Got home just in time to see part 2 of a Mystery Theater on public TV.  It was so good it had you on the edge of your seat.  Really really good.  My goodness those Brits really know what they are doing when it comes to good TV.
Brings me to today and I got up at 4:20, kill me for not being someone that can sleep in. I dusted the floors, started mopping and when Jim got up he finished mopping for me.  Wanted to have the house all Spic and Span for Mac and Huddie who came today and were here by 11am.  Made brats for lunch with potato salad,  Jim got some potato salad at Cosco and he just loves it.  Mac read a bunch of stories to Hudson and he is now down for a nap and by gum that sounds like a really good idea.

SUNDAY MlORNING AND WE ARE SICK TO DEATH OF RAIN

I feel like I could dress for winter.  It is wet and cold out, will my few flowers ever grow or will I ever get them all planted?  Will I ever see the sun again?
I know - a lot of silly non-sensical questions.  What planet am I from?
Well that's spring for you.
I took Sunday off, we went to church, came home - had a nice dinner and I took a long nap.  Jim went outside and he came back inside he asked me "is there was anything wrong with me, didn't I fee well?" I felt fine and took another nap.  I laid around all day and all night.  What fun.
I watched a new series on PBS and it was so good and scary it kept you on the edge of your chair.   They certainly do a wonderful job doing mysteries.
MONDAY ALL DAY
And what a beautiful day it was.  Jim went fishing for walleye again, no luck so went to the hot pond and killed the sunnies.
What a guy!
I had a lot of computer work on my Quicken account for WELCA.  I had to go back and check out past statements to make sure everything was in sync.  It is, it is.  I'm good.
I took the car and went down to Brainerd for an appointment with Cascade, it's a company set I between my plastic surgeon and my dermatologist.  I would like to get rid of sun and age spots.
They have a lazier light and do something using a broad ban light.  Yes yes, they do it for free.  That's a joke.  They want big bucks and I will have to think about , on my way home I called the gal, Kathy with Bliss Spalon that does my eyeliner and eyebrows and it turns out she uses the equipment at Cascade once a week.  I need to call her.  I trust her.  Money, how swift we can spend it.
Got back to Remer in time for the Lion's meeting.  Dinner was spaghetti - I hate spaghetti, bread stick was good.  I submitted a form to ask for $500 for Coats for kids.  I don't know if I will get it this year because we are short on funds.
Anyway Bryan Welk was there, he is a deputy sheriff and 5 years ago he decided to play the bagpipes, he only played the sax in school and he said he only plays one song.  "Amazing Grace" the reason he picked it up was because he had been at a funeral for a fellow officer and there was no music to honor him so he picked up playing it and now they even have an honor guard for fellow police officers.  One of his comments was "dogs go nuts" when he plays.  It really is quite loud and bagpipes are really expensive.  Fun.
I will sell for the meat raffle on July 3rd.
TUESDAY MORNING.
Well we are going to Duluth today to buy my cupboards for the sewing room today.  I am excited.
Wow I have been waiting a long time and Jim finally said YES.  I LOVE YES.
I actually can get my sewing room back together.  I need to before I die.
Next I will work on getting bar stools.  I need them by fall.  I don't know that it will ever happen.

ANOTHER FUNERAL - COUSIN CAROL

OBIT:  Donovan, Carol I. (Johnson) Age 77 from Bloomington, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2014. Survived by husband, John T. Donovan; daughters, Genie, Cynthia, Jacqueline; many grandchildren; brother, Donald Johnson; sister, Wanda Northrup; nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial on Thurs., June 12, 2014 at 10:30 am with visitation one hour prior to Mass will be held at Church of St. Edward, 9401 Nesbitt Ave. S., Bloomington. Interment at Ft. Snelling National.

We got there just a little after 10.  We stayed for the funeral and luncheon.  We sat with Wanda and her three children while having lunch.  Robin, Scott and Jennifer.  We talked to Carol's three children, Genie, Cindy and Jackie.  We saw Carol's brother Donnie.  He has Alzheimer's.  Wanda is really all alone now.  We also talked to Michael and his wife.  Donnie lives with them.

I went down on Wednesday and just got back yesterday afternoon about 5pm.

I can't believe how much I did while in the cities.
This week is such a blur. I know Monday we got rid of the left over rummage.
For some reason I don't remember Tuesday or Wednesday, with the exception on Wednesday I was working on laundry and getting the house ready so I could leave.

Heavens, on Tuesday I had my dermabraision appointment - you should see me.  Polka-dot nose.  I look like a clown,   Then we went to Alexandria for grandson Andrew's state trap shoot meet.  I went out to Lyn & Bob Hop's on a pontoon ride.  Too fun and way too much beer.  It was LIGHT beer.  We  glided over to Zorbas's for lunch.  Too fun Jim met me there.  Long day, slept from Alex to Staples.

It was busy when I got home on Friday because the church had their bonfire to get rid of a woodpile
behind the church.  We had to cut down two tall pines at church last year and this was the left over debrie.  BIG FIRE.

I made dessert for today, we are having an ex-CIA agent over.  I just like to say that.  Jim was in the ASA or Army Security Agency back in the day so his Army friends have some kind of stories.

I am making walleye for 6.  Strawberry salad so I had better get the dressing made.
We will see if I make sweet potato wedges.  I think I will sauté some almonds in butter for the fish.
It had better turn out and how can you mess up walleye.

More on the great adventures of PJ tomorrow.  My goodness I am silly.

I did get to babysit Hope and Hudson with Skye on Thursday night.  It was Mac's goodby party at Target.  Can hardly believe he is gone from there after so many years.  11 at least.
We had pizza and I read 13 stories out of a storybook of Bible stories.  I know where Hope got the phrase "I am going yo kill you" which she said to Hudson.  From one of the Bible stories.  A flyway Hudson got back at Hope.  He said he wasn't going to talk to her ever again.  She almost had a heart attack.  She couldn't bear Hudson never talking to her and she apologized most profoundly.

Don't you just love the drama.  KIDS!

MONDAY MORNING

Well another rummage sale over with and today is the day we wrap it up, find out the total and get rid of all the stuff left over that didn't sell.
On Sunday Sharon and I took some stuff over to the thrift store in G.R., what was funny is all of the 3 thrift stores were closed.  We stopped in a consignment store just to check it out and she suggested we knock on the apartment on the side of the thrift store and we lucked out and at first he just said the owner was in Cohasset and couldn't help up but changed his mind and opened the door and let us in.  So greatful to be able to drop the stuff off.
We had to go Wal-mart, deliver plastic bags to Cub, we ate at Taco John's and when we got back we made a nice chicken dinner.

IT'S OVER - NO MORE SALE - $2605.00

Well it is Sunday morning and what fun I had just being with the women at church, to heck with all the hard work, it was a hoot.  We made around $2500.00.  Packing up and seeing Jerry and Velma from Orphan Grain Train to pick up left over stuff.  They really are a delight.  I had to laff when we were packing up, I was asked by 4 people at the same time different questions and it just gave me a warm feeling.  No one can possibly answer that many questions at the same time or be in that many places at the same time.  It made me just smile inside because people were so helpful and wonderful. Are we ever blessed to have so many wonderful people at church that were so helpful and wonderful. I love them all.
Have to get ready for church.  Fun having Sharon here.

THURSDAY AND TOMORROW IS THE DAY

Well here we are and soon it's all over.  I can't even talk about how tired I am.  Bone tired but it's a good tired.  My goal is $2000 and we will see, it sure is tough to see that we have that amount of stuff.
I have been baking every morning for the workers and bake sale.
Yesterday date oatmeal pecan cookies and today chocolate chip, I am on my 2nd batch.  Good grief it keeps me busy.
Sharon Kuubits came up yesterday and is going to help with the rummage sale.   A yearly tradition.  She got here about 5:30 last night, Jim was out fishing and I made us walleye, sweet potato fries and salad.  Nummy.  We of course had a bottle and a half of wine.
Well to the showers and work at church.
Great bunch of gals.

MONDAY AND IT'S COUNTDOWN WEEK

Well here it is Monday morning, on Sunday Betty was out sick so didn't usher and Joanne stepped in to help Sally and so did I.  We had to have coffee upstairs because of the sale.
Saturday was a busy day, worked 4 hours at church and came home, went over to visit Linda because she went to urgent care with her crones.  They needed to see her ASAP at the hospital because her potassium was too low and her blood platelet levels were too low also.
I took her over to Deer River ER and they wanted to keep her Sunday also.
To early.
Made a batch of chocolate chip cookies and didn't add enough flour, the second batch was perfect.
Needed to go to Cub, Home Depot and Walmart. Spend spend spend. Baked a chicken when I got home.
Monday and I got up way too early at 3:30am.  What for you say, the dogs had to go out.
Anyway I looked for the recipe from Lori.  Found it.  I love this recipe for chocolate chip cookies.
Really goo.  I messed up the first batch, they tasted good but they were a touch too flar.  I really think I used a 3/4 cup measure cup instead of 1 cup measuring cup. DA.
Second batch much better.  We will sell them for 50cents each.
I have a lot of baking to do, I will have the guys I have coming in today to drape the garage can eat my first batch.
Heck the flavor is there.
I wish you could see the basement at church.  What a mess.
I had better shower and get at it.
Hey my Mac is in the position of getting a new job.  Today is the day.  We will find out.  Saturday they went out to celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary.  My goodness time flys.
Skye babysits for them and I want you to know she has way too much time on her hands.  She sends me a text having her dog and Mac's cat talking.  What a riot.
If my posting is the sketchiest it's because every 12 minutes I have to throw in another batch.
Later.
