It was Melanie's birthday on Sunday. She called me on mine. I so wish her well but was distressed to hear she quit her job at Mystic Lake Casino. I don't know if it was a good job or not but no income can be a recipe for disaster. Got a card off to her today. It was funny, I was reading out of my daily devotion book and today the prayers were for adopted kids. I do pray for her. She is now 43.
Well we had a great day for our first day of VBS. (Vacation Bible School). 32 little ones were there. My class was 4-6th graders. What we had was 4 4th graders and one 5th grader. 3 boys and 2 girls, Kaydance, Aubrey, Noah, Harris and Bradon. Marcia is helping me. We really have had it easy so far, they are really good kids but today I need to find out about their family life. Yesterday we concentrated on "worry", sang songs, did art, science, brought pennies for Malaria. I need to remember more pennies today. I need to convince the Science teacher to have the kids set aside their pennies until after class, they play with their money way too much. It seems hard for them to focus, I should talk, it is hard for me to focus during the Pastor's sermon sometimes. My mind just seems to wander.
I had a fun talk with Dot yesterday. Can't wait till she and Deanne come up for a week and then we pick up Dede and drop off Deanne. I need to call Deanne and see how her eye surgery went.
I cleaned out and filled the two largest hummingbird feeders this morning and got eaten alive by pesky mosquitoes. Dirty little bugs. Who do they think they are anyway. I have lots of hummingbirds. More than a dozen at the feeders at one time. What fun.
Audrey Tobiason invited me over for a bottle of New Age wine yesterday, we had white but they also have a blush. I prefer the pink because of the color. I am such a critic, to heck with the taste, give me a good color. Just kidding. I love the reds. Anyway you serve it over ice with a wedge of lime. Quite good that way. I love anything with lime.
Home to dinner, we had chops on the grill and I had a salad. And wine, and wine. Red this time.
I need to call Nancy Stefan to do the red wine on a stick tonight. Will be fun. I have the white done.
Will have to take a picture but I can't find my camera and don't know how to get iPad pictures to my blog. Technology is not always my friend. I will check with Jean today, she is a Whiz at it.

SUNDAY MORNING
I had a good Saturday, plans changed and Linda Johnson and I did not have to go to Garrison because Janet's granddaughter brought her all the way back to Remer. She had her car full of bags for our Rummage sale and she called me when they arrived and I picked up all her bags and took them to the pole building. I do have room to store stuff and I will be spending afternoons this next week working on the upstairs. Haven't been able to get at the organizing of it for the past couple of years but this year is the year. I have no excuse.
I got up on Saturday and realized I forgot to send fish home with Teresa so I called up Nancy Green and hopped in my car and had coffee with Nancy, Skee and Teresa. It was fun.
I came home from Janet's and had some wonderful Minnesota grow corn on the cob.
Jim went out fishing, I took a nap and just laid around. It's funny that I sort of feel guilty when I am doing nothing. There is always so much left undone. I have to get the minutes of our last WELCA meeting typed up.
I will tell you something that is absolutely wonderful and it't that the little hummingbirds are drinking their sugar water like it's going out of style. I make about 16 cups every 3 days right now. WOW!
Need to stock up on sugar.
Need to get ready for church. It will be a busy day, I know they are decorating for VBS after and we have the Music Fest tonight at 6:30. I am doing the fire and Gordy said I can have wood out of his shed which is dry and won't smoke. The outside wood just is too wet, we have had so much wet wood this year. Pox on the rain. You should have seen the bonfire we had yesterday, I bet we had flames 20 feet high and it was windy too but the wind blew away from the woods.

CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S SATURDAY
I made it through the week and I never thought we would. I don't know what I would do without Jim. His extraordinary talent to make beer batter fish for us two days in a row makes me just stand back and say YES. On Wednesday I went to our church service at 7pm for the blessing of the animals. We must have 7-8 dogs, there was of course Otto, Makons, Foxie, Harvey, Kirby, Buttons, Harley, Benji, a little Chiwawa, can't remember his name.
We had our annual church fish fry yesterday, I can't even remember how many years we have done it, it could be our 6th. Anyway it was fun, we had 30 all together. Lots of good food and I changed up the punch this year and got lots of compliments on it. It was a cran-raspberry based punch with pineapple and ginger ale. Yummy!
Too bad it has to be non alcoholic. Just kidding, I am glad it was, I only had 3 people ask for coffee and I decided not to make any. More work for me. I made 3 batches of punch.
It was so good to have Dennis and Judy, and Teresa and Duane here.
We go to D.O.S.S. on Friday and what a nice time. There were 8 of us and Jim did the beer batter fish fry again, Teresa brought new wine, New Age, two different flavors. You drink it over ice with lime. It was yummy and I will have to introduce Dot and Deanne and Dede to it. I need to call Teresa this morning because I forgot to send fish home with her and I need to call Linda and see what time we are going to pick up Janet in Garrison. Busy busy busy.

Graduation Party
Oh River, my wonderful grandson. What a wonderful graduation party, your parents did such a wonderful job and your Dad outdid himself. He loves you so vert much and boy did it show. It was wonderful to have all my kids there, good to see Dick and Diane Churchill, Tar and Sandy, Jeff's parents, his sister Janet and her granddaughter were there. Lots of Jeff's friends and family. My sisters Sonja and Heidi, brother Mark and it was a wonderful day.
Monday I worked scrubbing my kitchen floor on my hands and knees, I sure have something that bothers me in my left knee when I have to get down on them. Almost feels like a sharp pain or chip. Not enough to bother about but stay off the knees silly girl.
I had a 9am dentist appt. and then met with Gwen the pastors wife about VBS, (vacation bible school) this year I am a Shepard along with Marcia. We worked together before. By then it was lunch time and I had hotdogs, I am a fool for hotdogs. I went back to the church after lunch, Gwen mentioned she wanted the storeroom cleaned out and since it has all my rummage stuff in it for the next Rummage sale and I started cleaning it out and Gwen surprised me and showed up to help. We had it done in an hour and a half. YIPEE SKIPEE.
Jim went fishing and I had I had a very nice dinner or was that Monday night. I get confused. Hummmmm I am 72 now.
It's Tuesday and a cool cool day, I talked to Dede today. It was fun and she sure is having a heck of a time with her knee with a torn meniscus.

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY AND I LOVE BEING 72
I am having a good time with my sister Sonja. I brought her home with me after our Family reunion. We had our reunion at Father Hennepin State Park. My sister Heidi, husband Pat, daughter Maggie, Erin and baby Jackson, Joey and girlfriend Alley were there, brother Mark, his son Jason and wife Tara and girls Katelyn, Becca and boys Brandon and Gavin were there and Jim and I, Mac and Laura, Hope and Hudson, Skye, Alexis, River and Autumn. Anyway we had 25 of us and most of us were there for the three nights. It was fun and the weather was good but rained on Saturday night and on Sunday morning. I have been so busy running around even I am wondering where I find time to clean. Thank goodness for Jim.
I took Sonja to see sister Paulette in Rutledge, we first stopped in Little Falls to see Tar so she could buy a ring and get some sized. I am having two soldered together.
We went to meet our second cousin Pam at Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge and Tiki Garden. Heidi came and Skye. It was fun and we got to meet Pam's daughter Elizabeth. What a lovely girl. Then off to Heidi's for some fun chatting around the dining room table and we stayed over night and were up early to go to cousin Wanda's, Pam was also there and cousin Carol and of course Heisi, Sonja and I.
We did some shopping on the way home and was back in Remer by 7pm. We put on over 500 miles.
I had a church WELCA meeting Thursday night and on Friday I took Sonja to Walker for lunch and we went on an adventure for rubber sandals, yes you heard me right. Stupid rubber sandals. I have one pair and I only know one place to get them by Itasca State park. They only had size 9 and too big. I may go on line, what is wrong with me that I haven't done it before now. HELLO!
We did have a nice lunch at the old Chase Hotel.

WHAT HAPPENS TO TIME
We had appointments with a new Vet. On Monday and it was a wonderful day, on the way to Pine River we stopped off in Brainerd and saw Duane and Teresa's new townhouse. We went shopping for groceries and off to the vet. I feel bad for Makons. He has a lump on the side of his neck where he got the shots from the vet and it's been a week, the vet gave Otto a Benadryl because he always swells up from shots but here it's Makons. These darn kids anyway, if it isn't one it's the other.
We had a big day on Tuesday, we had a guy come out with a skid steer and take down our burm we built several years aglo, it had become a weed patch. Jim moved all the rocks to our new rock garden where we have the snowball bush planted. Then I got packed for my trip.
On Wednesday I left by 7:15, I just wanted to meet up with Laura and get some last minute instructions because she was flying out to meet Mac in San Francisco for an 11th anniversary celebration. He had flown out Monday on business. They drove up to Napa on Thursday to a B&B and has a very nice next couple of days. I on the other hand had Hope and Hudson to care for and you know how it takes a village to raise a child. Well I had Alexis, River and Autumn plus Skye to help and help they did.
Oh we had fun, Mac and Laura wanted Hope and Hudson to be at there day care on Thursday and Friday and who am I to argue. Skye had to work at her salon both days but we went out to see her so Autumn and Alexis needed their hair done. Skye made a fire at Mac's, I had Hope sleep with me in Mac and Laura's room.
On Friday night Tar stopped out to say Hi to the kids and shared my chile I brought with me at about 6pm and Alexis and Autumn left just before they got there, she had to work on Saturday.
Tar's sister Susie and her grandson Chase stopped out about 7:30 Friday night since she was having dinner nearby. Nice to see her.
We had a nice day Saturday and went for pizza for the rest of us for supper. Skye and I covered Mac and Laura's kitchen chairs in the afternoon while River played with hope and Hudson. They look great. Mac and Laura got home around midnight.
Skye left Saturday night around 10pm and River and I left Sunday morning around 9:15 after coffee and rolls. I dropped River off in Little Falls and got home around 2pm. Tired.
I got ready for our Music Fest on Sunday night at church, Jim put a bunch of wood in the car and I took it in for the fire ring at church and built a lovely fire. We sang patriotic songs accompanied by guitars. We had ice cream floats and good fellowship.
Monday I finally figured out how to do group emails and started setting up emails and names for people. Isn't it amazing how much I don't know about computers, what I do know you could put in a thimble. I also got my WELCA 4 page report out to the women in our church. I went in to our library for about 2 hours and helped move books from one place to another, we had built a new shelf and have to return one we have been using to Outing Library. I was still tired and didn't go to G.R. With Jim that afternoon to go grocery shopping. Thank goodness.
Here it is Tuesday and I have just been messing around doing wash and little stuff. When will I get to the big stuff.
