I know they don't call it MEA (Minnesota Education Association) anymore, it is now Education Minnesota Conference but it just doesn't have the same ring to it. It just goes to show you That not every idea is a good idea. I like MEA, everyone knows what you are talking about, in fact it is a good time for kids and grand kids to come home. John and Andrew showed up last night. It seems like they haven't been up forever. I need to make some chocolate chip cookies.
Do you know I went to town 4 times yesterday. Thank goodness we only live 2 miles out of Remer. No we won't answer the question why couldn't I do it all on one trip.
One thing I an excited about is the Pastor's Christmas gift. I am collecting the funds for it and we are giving it to him on Sunday. Lucky man. I love one-hundred dollar bills.
At 9am, Janet and I served for WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America). I may my famous egg bake, Heidi's recipe but it always seems to be a hit. It was a good Bible study too, Jean does such a nice job as leader.
At 3:30 Jean and I met Terry from school and gave her all the winter coats, hats, scarves, mittens and boots we had left from our Winter Care and Share. Jean coordinated, I was the legs. I had $400 and shopped thrift stores, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Savers, Target and Walmart, next year we plan on calling it Coats for Kids. Tells more, we learn how to better utilize our funds. It's funny because last night on the news we heard they have over 9,000 coats for kids. We are indeed small potatoes, but we feel if we have kept one kid warm, it's all been worth it.

BEHIND AGAIN
I don't know where the time goes but I have been busy, I am going to start with today and work backwards. First of all Jim went fishing and just look at his big Northern.
I have been on the computer most of the day just trying to get the some of the publicity done for our craft sale. Just don't ask, I volunteer for too many things. Why oh why-o.
I dropped 6 letters in the mail to radio stations today and emailed 2 newspapers with stories and went to Longville and placed a story and ad for 2 weeks to advertise it so I may do more radio stations tomorrow but for today I am done. I have to leave in a few minutes for our Lions meeting. We have it on the 3rd Monday of every month with a dinner and meeting at the Woodsman cafe in town. Believe me the meals are forgettable. For $10.25 you would think we would get wine with our meal. Just kidding. I have eaten so many yummy brownies today I am thinking about turning into one. Got to run. Later

WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?
Here it is Wednesday already and what have I done with my time. My back was sore yesterday so I must have done something.
Getting Richard's clothes washed and sorted has been a huge task, had to toss much, not going there, we sure appreciate all your card's and letters and thoughts and prayers.
I am also getting summer stuff put to the camper instead of a closet, makes sense to me, Florida will be our next stop this winter. Jim has to get the camper winterized. I should say "The Castle", I worked our churches "Winter Care and Share" last night from 4-7pm, we sure have lots compared to last year, we just get better at it I think. Met many nice Mom's and kids. I have compiled a list of items we didn't have and will pick up because we have some funds left. YIPEE SKIPEE!
Jim has to go to Sartell to see Dr. Reynolds for another shot in his eye. He now has to go twice as often as I, poor baby. We know how blessed and lucky we are so these rye problems and back problems are just a blip on the radar.
This year I have lost 3 first cousins and Jim his brother. We feel so blessed to be here still, and together. We have such a wonderful life, I think we will even do some traveling next summer out East.
I know you all will think I am nuts but I have already started listening to Christmas music, I just don't get enough of it. I really don't get to the Malls and I bet they will get decorated soon.
Believe it or not I wish I was traveling down to Minneota for a funeral at my home church Hemnes Lutheran Church this weekend, it's a 5 1/2 hour trip and I am just not up to it. We have so much going on at church. Just can't do it.
I am selling raffle tickets before church for Lorretta's fashion doll. I will have to take a picture of it and post it. Later.

FRIDAY EARLY AM
I don't know what happened to Thurs, I spent it cleaning out the camper we haven't finished that job. Doing Richard's clothing and stuff is overwhelming. I think of what my kids have to go through when I am gone. Heck at least there won't be a time limit, we own everything here. Such as it is. Our place may not be paradise to everyone but it is our little slice of heaven.
By the way on Thurs it went from shirt sleeve weather to 33 degrees and a lot, a whole lot of wind. This morning there is a trace of snow on the deck. Look's cold out but it says it's still 33 degrees out.
It does not seem to be saving what I am typing. I feel like jumping off a bridge. This computer stuff is driving me nuts. Why does it not save what I am typing?
If I hit preview after I type something and before I post it seems to save it. I guess that is what I have to do. Go figure.
I had so much wonderful stuff about the grand kids that we are so blessed to have our 3 grand daughters and slue of grand sons. We did Face Time with Hudson and Hope last night, somersault's galore. Too fun watching the grand kids grow up.
All for now. The thoughts I had before are gone. I need all the energy I can muster. Jim has to go back to the apartment and finish up today, hire a cleaning lady, do what ever is necessary to finish up. It hasn't been cleaned in some places for 11 years, neither have the outside of my cupboards. I need my kids here to do it, what I need is the cleaning lady Sue Selenski told me about. She is only $15 an hour. I will call her.

WED.
I'm so tired, we worked on Richard's apartment until 8pm last night so for about 4 hours. With this cold coming on I do feel like what is that old expression? I feel like what the cat dragged in! The coffee feels good going down but the jeans are too tight. My size 14 jeans are in the washer and I had to resort to size 12. Silly me. I have gained too much weight, AGAIN.
I have been saying a prayer for Richard's soul, to have respect for his things, he may not as lived as clean as I would but to remember how very personal it is to invade someones space after they have departed this earth. He was a gentle soul to me, he loved being feisty and jobbing people. You would regret messing with him. I don't think he would ever back down but then I don't think my Jim would either. Anyway I knew the quite respectful Richard. He was always kind and good to me and that is how I will remember him. He didn't live clean but that can be fixed. He was a Vietnam vet you know. Agent orange took its toll on him. He was a brick layer by trade. And from his old pictures quite adorable. He used to wear his hair Curley. I will have to post an early picture of him. Have lots to do today, get his apartment all cleaned out. May as well get it done. His daughter Sonya is holding up rather well. Her significant other (Jim) is there helping too, we have to get back by 10am this morning. We will store stuff they can't take home today, he said he was going to give me some of his agates and his daughter knowing how much I love them gave me all of them. A wonderful remembrance. All for now, over and out. Jim was just telling me how Richard felt about us being at was now and how he felt we shouldn't be over there. He isn't alone. It's one we can't win.

TUESDAY WITH SONYA AND JIM, RICHARD'S DAUGHTER
Jim was telling me there were at least two instances yesterday where either he or Richard would have called during the game he was watching. I used to get such a chuckle out of those when they were together watching the games they so dearly loved. They both knew a lot about football and were gregarious about it. You just feel so bad that Richard didn't have someone living with him that could watch his back. I think he liked his alone life. I badged up at least 6 garbage bags of dirty clothes to wash. You couldn't even walk into the bedroom the pile was so huge. There is still more. He said I could have more of his Agate collection. You should see it. Amazing. I know we will be going back today. I would like to do more cleaning. It's what I do. I talked to his sister Joy last night. She is in Virginia Beach Virginia.
Well I have to report I have a bad cold. Thank you Jim!

SAD NEWS
Jim's brother Richard Vincent Wester, was found dead on his bathroom floor this morning. Jim talks to him every day and couldn't reach him yesterday at all and knew he was home so we were worried. We finally got hold of manager and they found him. We turned around, we were near Eau Claire WI on a trip but will cut it short by a week. He was the same age as me, 71, his birthday was May 3rd.
SAT. & SUNDAY
Friday night we hit Cable WI, met Carrie and the family and had dinner at The Chamber of Commerce Tent for Cable WI - there was a pork BBQ with all the trimmings. It was quite a feast, then we came back to our campsite for a camp-fire. It was fun. We got up and met Carrie and the family at a breakfast of pumpkin pancakes and fixen's at the Cable Community Center. Shopped around Cable after because it was their "Fall Fest", so vendor's were all over the place, car show too. I found a hot pad that looks like a cupcake - thought it would be a good project for our craft sale. Also found earrings for my purple jacket. Jacket is at home or I would post a picture of it.
We went to our campsite for hot dogs, rainbow salad, chips and beans.
Stopped at a place called Berry Patch and found the most fun scarf for my teal or orange or yellow shirts.
Went to Carrie's Cabin for a boat ride, kids and Jim wet a line but caught zero. I am trying to remember where we had dinner Friday night but can't. Just remembered, it was at a resort and they had wonderful hamburger baskets, kids were busy with video games and we had such a nice time. Got home about 9:30, big day.
Sunday morning Jim and I went to Trinity Lutheran Church, it was Communion Sunday and it said if you are not a member please talk to the Pastor before communion so Jim did and he asked us if we were considering joining the Missouri Synod Church and Jim said no, so the pastor asked us if we wouldn't mind not taking communion. The sermon was all about how we are all God's children, but they didn't want us taking communion so when communion time came around, we left. it was the end of the service anyway but it made me feel unwelcome and I guess unwanted. They were so friendly when we arrived. It was such a contradiction.
Carrie and family were outside in the parking lot as we came out so we took the most beautiful drive ever to a place about half an hour north and west. "Delta Dinner", we had a 50 min wait, can you believe Jim didn't mind at all. What a trooper. We all had coffee and sat at tables outside waiting. Fun breakfast and it's hard to find the words to describe the ride. Spectacular. Like nothing I have ever seen, the rolling hills and maple trees. Red, rust and so many shades of gold with green thrown in for show. What fun. Made a pit stop and I bought a "Tried and True" cookbook from a roadside store for 3 buck, it was from Hayward. Looks inviting.
We went to check out a campsite across from Carrie's on Namakogan Lake, beautiful place, I think we could make due with it. Wish John and Pam had kept their camper and we could all camp there. Drove back to Carrie's cabin and spent the afternoon, I pulled out the old knitting, I brought some with so I could make a scarf for my new jacket that is lavender. Weird color but it works, Great jacket that I got at a Goodwill for $4.
We came back to our campsite at 3pm, tired but feeling so good, good weekend with the family, I made a cocktail and a fire, found some great logs in the woods and called my friend Sharon and had a nice chat. Jim went on the computer, he is trying to reach Richard but couldn't raise him. Sometimes Richard let's his phone go dead. Forgets to charge it.
Carrie and family stopped by our campsite on their way out of town. Carrie caught a big Northern fish from her dock by having a blue gill on her line and the Northern was chasing it and Dave netted it. What a hoot. It was show and tell time, that's for sure.
Jim and I had a nice steak dinner and we went to bed early. We want to leave our campsite by 8am because we are leaving today to meet some classmates of his a couple hundred miles east of here.
CRANBERRY BOGS, IN PERSON THEY ARE BRIGHT RED FROM ALL THE CRANBERRIES.
